Patent
Multi-microphone voice activity detector
Rongshan Yu
- 25 Jun 2009
TL;DR: In this article, a dual microphone voice activity detector system is presented, which estimates the signal level and noise level at each microphone, and detects the presence of nearby sounds by comparing the level differential between the two microphones of nearby sound such as the signal and noise.

Method for adaptive control and equalization of electroacoustic channels
Matthew Fellers,Grant Allen Davidson,Rongshan Yu,Eric M. Benjamin,Kenneth James Gundry +4 more
- 29 Jul 2009
TL;DR: In this article, a transfer function estimate of the electroacoustic channel is established, responsive to the second audio signal and part of the first audio signal, and filters are obtained with transfer functions based on the estimate.

A fine granular scalable to lossless audio coder
TL;DR: Advanced Audio Zip provides a universal yet efficient solution for digital audio applications such as audio archiving, network audio streaming, portable audio playing, and music downloading, and eliminates the need for any transcoding system to facilitate sharing of digital audio contents across these application domains.

Method for encoding a digital signal into a scalable bitstream; method for decoding a scalable bitstream.
Rongshan Yu,Xiao Lin,Susanto Rahardja +2 more
- 06 Oct 2004
TL;DR: In this article, a method for decoding a scalable bitstream into a digital signal comprising de-multiplexing the scalable bit stream into a core layer bitstream and an enhancement-layer bitstream, decoding and de-quantizing the corelayer bit stream to generate a core-layer signal, bitplane decoding the enhancement layer bit stream based on perceptual information of the digital signal, and performing an error mapping based on the bit-plane decoded enhancement layer and the dequantized core layer signal, resulting in an reconstructed transformed signal.

Binaural rendering using subband filters
Rongshan Yu,Charles Q. Robinson,Mark Stuart Vinton +2 more
- 14 Mar 2007
TL;DR: In this article, amplitude, fractional-sample delay and phase-correction filters are arranged in cascade with one another and applied to subband signals that represent spectral content of an audio signal in frequency subbands.
