TL;DR: The continuing progress of developing the SSS for EXCEDE is reported, including the reconfiguration of the system into a more flight-like layout, with an upstream deformable mirror and an inverse PIAA system, and testing this system in a vacuum chamber, including IWA, contrast, and stability performance.

Damping Characteristics of Composite Petal Structure for an 8-m Diameter Telescope at Cryogenic Temperature
TL;DR: In this article, a detailed analysis of these results extracted from dynamics tests conducted during the cool down portion of the last thermal cycle is presented in this report, showing that the levels of damping observed in the built-up petal structure are 10 to 20 times higher than those measured by Marie Levine at JPL on all-composite coupons of the petal panels provided by Lockheed Martin.

TL;DR: The Starlight Suppression System (SSS) for the EXCEDE (EXoplanetary Circumstellar Environments and Disk Explorer) mission concept was proposed in 2011 by NASA's Explorer program for technology development as discussed by the authors.
