Clinical Importance of Estrogen Receptor-β Evaluation in Breast Cancer Patients Treated With Adjuvant Tamoxifen Therapy
Naoko Honma,Rie Horii,Takuji Iwase,Shigehira Saji,Mamoun Younes,Kaiyo Takubo,Masaaki Matsuura,Yoshinori Ito,Futoshi Akiyama,Goi Sakamoto +9 more
TL;DR: Immunohistochemical examination of ER-beta1 in addition to ER-alpha and PR is clinically important in patients with breast cancer treated with tamoxifen monotherapy, and positively staining for ER- betaN or ER-Beta1 was associated with significantly better survival.

Intraoperative molecular assay for sentinel lymph node metastases in early stage breast cancer: a comparative analysis between one-step nucleic acid amplification whole node assay and routine frozen section histology.
Tomo Osako,Takuji Iwase,Kiyomi Kimura,Kyoko Yamashita,Rie Horii,Akio Yanagisawa,Futoshi Akiyama +6 more
TL;DR: The authors compared the performance in intraoperative detection of sentinel lymph node metastases with OSNA assay using a whole lymph node versus routine frozen section (FS) histology with a 2 mm‐sectioned lymph node.

Interobserver concordance of Ki67 labeling index in breast cancer: Japan Breast Cancer Research Group Ki67 Ring Study
Yoshiki Mikami,Takayuki Ueno,Kenichi Yoshimura,Hitoshi Tsuda,Masafumi Kurosumi,Shinobu Masuda,Rie Horii,Masakazu Toi,Hironobu Sasano +8 more
TL;DR: There was better Concordance with the counting system, and concordance was high when the assessed field was predetermined, indicating that the selection of the evaluation area is critical for obtaining reproducible Ki67 LI in breast cancer.

Differences in clinical importance of Bcl-2 in breast cancer according to hormone receptors status or adjuvant endocrine therapy
Naoko Honma,Rie Horii,Yoshinori Ito,Shigehira Saji,Mamoun Younes,Takuji Iwase,Futoshi Akiyama +6 more
TL;DR: B cl-2 expression is an independent poor prognostic factor in patients with hormone receptor-negative or triple-negative breast cancers, especially in the absence of adjuvant therapy, suggesting that the anti-apoptotic effect of Bcl-2 is clearly exhibited under such conditions.
High prevalence of HER-2/neu and p53 overexpression in inflammatory breast cancer.
Masataka Sawaki,Masataka Sawaki,Yoshinori Ito,Futoshi Akiyama,Nahomi Tokudome,Rie Horii,Nobuyuki Mizunuma,Shunji Takahashi,Noboru Horikoshi,Tsuneo Imai,Akimasa Nakao,Fujio Kasumi,Goi Sakamoto,Kiyohiko Hatake +13 more
TL;DR: Overexpression of HER-2/neu and the p53 protein were not significant prognostic factors in inflammatory breast cancer, suggesting the need for clinical trials of antibody therapy targeted to HER- 2/NEu.
