A sensor-Net system includes sensor nodes which are in intermittent operation so as to save power by repeating activated state and inactivated state at a regular interval. Synchronization of time in the system is executed by aligning to the intermittent operation of the sensor nodes. A management server issues a setTime command for configuring the time to each gateway node at a specified interval. Each router node sets or corrects the time of it based on the time received from the gateway node and thereafter turns ON the time configuration flag for each sensor node in order to expand the setTime command to all of its sibling sensor nodes. The router node, upon reception of a polling, which is a command request, from the sensor node, obtains the time at that time, then uses the time to generate a setTime command to transmit to that sensor node.

The radio LAN module stops searching a communication channel and shifts the operation mode of the radio LAN module to a power saving operation mode when a communicable communication channel can not be searched even though the fixed time passes after starting searching the communicable communication channel, when the radio LAN module searches the communicable communication channel by channel scanning. When the beacon radio wave can not be received even by scanning all of the channels, it is supposed that the existing AP does not exist in the surroundings, and an operator manually sets country information (at steps 301-303). When an AP has already existed in the surroundings by the determination at step 302 and the beacon radio wave from the existing AP can be received, the newly set AP extracts the country information from the received beacon and sets the country information to the AP itself (at step 304). SOLUTION: The maintenance person enters a service area of the AP and accesses the AP from the PC carried by the maintenance person. In that case, access to the access point is performed while successively changing an address part of low-order 8 bits in the IP address of the AP, thereby searching the IP address of the access point. The obtained IP address is used to initiate the browser, the setting contents of the AP are displayed on the PC, and the setting contents of the AP are changed therefrom.
