Peptide Signaling in Human Placenta and Membranes: Autocrine, Paracrine, and Endocrine Mechanisms*
TL;DR: A growing number of studies has provided strong evidence that fetal membranes (amnion, chorion) and maternal decidua are capable of hormone production and metabolism and, when containing hormonal receptors, serve as endocrine organs.

Uterine and fetal cerebral Doppler predict the outcome of third‐trimester small‐for‐gestational age fetuses with normal umbilical artery Doppler
Filiberto Maria Severi,Caterina Bocchi,Antonella Visentin,P. Falco,Luigi Cobellis,Pasquale Florio,S. Zagonari,Gianluigi Pilu +7 more
TL;DR: To assess the value of different admission tests in predicting the outcome of small‐for‐gestational age (SGA) fetuses with normal Doppler waveforms in the umbilical artery, a large number of these tests are administered at different stages of pregnancy.

Expression and secretion of activin A: Possible physiological and clinical implications
TL;DR: The present review summarizes the various activin sources and functions in humans, and the data obtained on activin A measurement in various biological uids which suggest possible physiological and clinical implications.
Human placenta and fetal membranes express human urocortin mRNA and peptide
Felice Petraglia,Pasquale Florio,Richard L. Gallo,Tommaso Simoncini,M. Saviozzi,A. M. Di Blasio,Joan Vaughan,Wylie Vale +7 more
TL;DR: It is revealed that human placenta and gestational related tissues express human urocortin gene and localize immunoreactive uroc Cortin, supporting the concept that these tissues are capable of expressing a large number of neuroendocrine peptides.

Inhibins in female and male reproductive physiology: role in gametogenesis, conception, implantation and early pregnancy
TL;DR: This review covers the most recent advances on the role of inhibins in human reproductive function and newly recognized alterations of inhibin levels in gynaecological diseases as well as in normal and pathological pregnancy are discussed, with particular emphasis on the potential clinical usefulness of assessing inhibition levels in serum and other biological fluids.
