Circulation and suspended sediment transport in a coral reef lagoon: The south-west lagoon of New Caledonia
Sylvain Ouillon,Pascal Douillet,J.P. Lefebvre,R. Le Gendre,Aymeric Jouon,Philippe Bonneton,Jean-Michel Fernandez,C. Chevillon,Olivier Magand,Jérôme Lefèvre,P. Le Hir,Richard Laganier,Franck Dumas,Patrick Marchesiello,A. Bel Madani,Serge Andréfouët,Jean-Yves Panche,Renaud Fichez +17 more
TL;DR: Findings from the 2000-2008 French National Program EC2CO-PNEC relative to the circulation and the transport of suspended particles in this lagoon of New Caledonia are synthesized.

A combined modelling and geochemical study of the fate of terrigenous inputs from mixed natural and mining sources in a coral reef lagoon (New Caledonia)
Jean-Michel Fernandez,Sylvain Ouillon,C. Chevillon,Pascal Douillet,Renaud Fichez,Romain Le Gendre +5 more
TL;DR: The study of the geochemical signatures together with sedimentological data and 3D numerical simulations of the transport of non-settling particles throughout the lagoon demonstrated that terrigenous inputs from the Coulée River were mainly transported and deposited along the shoreline, reaching areas as distant as Sainte Marie Bay.

Spatio-temporal variability in suspended particulate matter concentration and the role of aggregation on size distribution in a coral reef lagoon
Aymeric Jouon,Sylvain Ouillon,Pascal Douillet,Jean-Pierre Lefebvre,Jean Michel Fernandez,Xavier Mari,Jean-Marie Froidefond +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the concentration and size distribution of suspended particles in the South-West Coral reef lagoon of the island of New Caledonia using optical backscattering and laser diffraction particle sizing.

Biogeochemical typology and temporal variability of lagoon waters in a coral reef ecosystem subject to terrigeneous and anthropogenic inputs (New Caledonia).
Renaud Fichez,Renaud Fichez,Sandrine Chifflet,Sandrine Chifflet,Pascal Douillet,Pascal Douillet,Philippe Gérard,F. Gutierrez,Aymeric Jouon,Sylvain Ouillon,Christian Grenz,Christian Grenz +11 more
TL;DR: Results provided evidence that ENSO occurrences might temporarily lower the trophic status of the New Caledonia lagoon and concluded that the use of biogeochemical parameters in environmental surveys require adapted sampling strategies, data management and environmental alert methods.

A review of selected indicators of particle, nutrient and metal inputs in coral reef lagoon systems
Renaud Fichez,Medhi Adjeroud,Yves-Marie Bozec,Ludovic Breau,Yannick Chancerelle,C. Chevillon,Pascal Douillet,Jean-Michel Fernandez,Patrick Frouin,Michel Kulbicki,Benjamin Moreton,Sylvain Ouillon,Claude Payri,Thierry Perez,Pierre Sasal,Julien Thébault +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present environmental and biological indicators of the impact of three major categories of inputs in coral reef lagoons i.e. particles, nutrients and metals.
