TL;DR: A conceptual framework to identify globally important islands for invasive mammal eradications to prevent imminent extinctions of highly threatened species using biogeographic and technical factors, plus a novel approach to consider socio-political feasibility is developed.
Prioritizing rat eradication on islands by cost and effectiveness to protect nesting seabirds
TL;DR: Rat eradication was most cost-effectively carried out on the island hosting the largest colony of P. yelkouan and the number of pairs protected for 1000 € of investment was significantly higher than adopting rankings of effectiveness alone, demonstrating that conservation priorities are more efficiently identified by including monetary costs in the analysis.

Breeding shearwaters on italian islands: population size, island selection and co-existence with their main alien predator, the black rat
Nicola Baccetti,Dario Capizzi,Ferdinando Corbi,Bruno Massa,Sergio Nissardi,Giovanna Spano,Paolo Sposimo +6 more
- 01 Jan 2009
TL;DR: The Yelkouan Shearwater tends to occupy larger and more offshore islands than the other species does, and is the only one that shows a clear positive correlation between abundance and island size, with a single exception of no quantitative relevance.

Fifteen Years of Rat Eradication on Italian Islands
Dario Capizzi,Nicola Baccetti,Paolo Sposimo +2 more
- 01 Jan 2016
TL;DR: A model aimed at identifying priority islands where rat eradication should be carried out, and/or establish recommended actions is developed to provide benefits to other island ecosystem components, species and communities.

Establishing the eradication unit of Molara Island: a case of study from Sardinia, Italy
Lapo Ragionieri,Lapo Ragionieri,Giulia Cutuli,Paolo Sposimo,Giovanna Spano,Augusto Navone,Dario Capizzi,Nicola Baccetti,Marco Vannini,Sara Fratini +9 more
TL;DR: The assignment and clustering tests performed on pre and post-eradication samples seem to indicate that the population of Sardinia mainland is a possible source of re-invasion for the Piana and Molara populations.
