A circuit card assembly adapted to be coupled to a housing for reducing the amount of electromagnetic interference (EMI) escaping from the housing into the environment. The circuit card assembly includes a printed circuit board, an insulative faceplate coupled to the front edge of the printed circuit board, and a shielding assembly. The shielding assembly includes an electrically conductive strip extending along the rear surface of the insulative faceplate, and a grounding path coupled to the printed circuit board and electrically coupled to the conductive strip. The grounding path provides a reliable, solid, positive ground between the conductive strip and the housing upon insertion of the printed circuit board into the housing.

The shielding strip comprises an intermediate portion extending generally vertically along the rear surface of the faceplate, resilient upper and lower spring arms extending rearwardly at an angle from the intermediate portion, and upper and lower contact pads at the ends of the respective upper and lower spring arms. The upper and lower contact pads form planar contact areas which are disposed at an angle relative to the spring arms, and which are parallel to corresponding electrical contact surfaces provided on the housing. The planar contact areas of the shielding strip form reliable electrical connections with the housing upon insertion of the circuit card, and also provide capacitive coupling between the shielding strip and the housing in the event that direct contact is not established.

An electrical circuit card adapted to be inserted into a grounded, electrically conductive housing comprises an insulative circuit board, an insulative faceplate coupled to the circuit board along the front edge thereof, and an electrically conductive shielding strip or shunt located behind the faceplate for reducing EMI emissions from the circuit card. The shielding strip comprises an intermediate portion extending generally vertically along the rear surface of the faceplate, and upper and lower contacts adapted to be brought into electrical contact with the housing when the circuit card is inserted into the housing. At least one of the upper and lower contacts is arranged to be brought into contact with a non-outwardly facing surface of the housing, such as the edge of a designator strip located above or below the opening in which the circuit card is received. The use of a non-outwardly facing housing surface for making contact with the shielding strip simplifies the manufacture of the designator strip by eliminating the masking step necessary to provide a bare metal contact area, improves the appearance of the finished designator strip while allowing more space for printed indicia, and affords a contact surface which is less likely to accumulate dirt and other contaminants.

A faceplate assembly, for use with an electronic circuit card, comprising a faceplate and a movable plate, each including conductive portions or being made of a conductive material, and in electrical contact with each other. The faceplate is adapted to mount to an electronic circuit card, and has first and second opposite edges. The movable plate has a free edge and is movably coupled to the faceplate to move, by pivoting, sliding or the like, with respect to the faceplate between a retracted position and an extended position. Movement of the movable plate can be effected manually, or automatically by movement of the latches on the electronic circuit card assembly which latch the electronic circuit card assembly into an electronic circuit card housing. When the electronic circuit card assembly is inserted into the electronic circuit card housing, and the movable plate is positioned in its retracted position either manually or by positioning the latches in their unlatched positions, the movable plate avoids contact with a faceplate of an adjacently inserted electronic circuit card assembly. When the movable plate is then positioned at its extended position either manually or by movement of the latches to their latched positions, an edge of the movable plate extends beyond an edge of the faceplate so that the movable plate contacts the faceplate assembly of the adjacently inserted electronic circuit card, thus establishing an electrical connection between the adjacent faceplate assemblies to provide an electroconductive shunt across the opening between the adjacent faceplate assemblies. The electroconductive shunt attenuates, and thus reduces EMI emissions through the opening, thus reducing EMI emissions from the circuit card housing.

PURPOSE:To ground a frame positively by installing spring pieces brought into contact separately with connector fittings for each printed board to a cover plate and electrically conducting the cover plate and a main frame by 3 large number of the spring pieces arranged around the cover plate. CONSTITUTION:Connector fittings 18... for each printed board 24... and the metallic case, etc., of a power circuit and a floppy disk drive are fixed to a main frame 2 by a fixing screw 21, etc., and grounded, but these fittings 18... and the metallic case are further grounded to a cover plate 4 through spring pieces 44,...,46 by covering the main frame 2 with the cover plate 4 and fastening the main frame 2, and the periphery of the opening surface 3 of a sealed frame is connected to the main frame 2 by a large number of spring pieces 42, 43... and sealed positively. Accordingly, contacts at a large number of points among the sealing film of a cable and cases for various electric units and the sealed frame are realized, thus also improving the leakage of noise electric waves from an external interface cable largely.

CONSTITUTION:A bar code 2 is transferred to a molding 1 at the same time of molding wherein stripe patterns 7 in reversed manner of recessions and protrusions are cut on the part corresponding to the molding surface of a mold 5. A space surface S1 is made by allowing the coarse surface and bar surface B1 to be a mirror surface, and masking is given to the part corresponding to the bar surface B1 of the molding surface 6 of the mold that is mirror-surface processed previously and an embossing process is given to the space surface S1 by etching, whereby stripe patterns 7 can be made corresponding to the bar code 2. At the space surface S1 being a coarse surface, dispersed reflection lights R S are permitted to enter the sensor 4, so that it is recognized as a high brightness surface and, at the bar surface B 1 being a mirror surface, projection lights L are reflected to the direction strayed out of the sensor 4, so that it is recognized as a low brightness surface.

PURPOSE:To obtain a frame structure whose component parts are small in number and which is easily assembled by a method wherein a shelf is mounted on a frame main body by fitting an engaging part located at a lower edge of its support plate into the opposed engaging part of the frame main body and moreover defined in positional relation to a back board with a positioning member. CONSTITUTION:A shelf 23 is a monolithilically molded piece of ABS resin, and an engaging groove 26 provided to the lower edge of the support plate of the shelf 23 is fitted to an opposed protrudent piece 34 provided to the base plate of a frame main body 1, and a positioning pin 31 is inserted into a positioning hole 33 located at the upper edge of a backboard 14 to mount the shelf 23 on the frame main body 1, and a screw 36 is inserted into a threaded hole 35 and driven to fix the shelf 23 to the frame main body 1. The screwing points of the shelf 23 can be sharply decreased in number, and the mounting position of the shelf 23 is determined by fitting the protrudent piece 34 molded by a press die into the engaging groove 26 molded by a molding die, so that the shelf 23 can be very accurately positioned.
