PURPOSE:To control thread feed for a sewing machine running at a high speed by applying the constitution wherein the second CPU releases thread retention upon receipt of an instruction from the first CPU, detects the feed amount of a thread and resets the thread retention when the thread feed reaches the predetermined amount CONSTITUTION:RAM 1a with backup data and ROM 1b with a program or the like saved are connected to the first CPU 1 The data can be loaded and changed with keyboard operation on an operation panel 3 The second CPU 2 controls entry side retainers 11 to 13 connected to RAM 2a and ROM 2b for saving an instruction and a thread feed set value sent from CPU 1, and comprising a thread feed device 10, and delivery side retainers 19 and 20 CPU 2 releases the thread retention of a thread retaining mechanism upon receipt of an instruction from CPU 1, detects a thread feed amount after releasing the thread retention and further resets the thread feed retention of the thread retaining mechanism, when a thread feed amount reaches the predetermined level According to the aforesaid construction, thread feed control is shared by two CPUs, and each CPU comes to have an allowance for processing time, thereby enabling coping with an overlock machine running at a high speed

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine program preparing device by which a pattern under sewing is displayed during the conduction of cycle sewing and a pattern is changed-over into a succeeding time sewing pattern when respective cycle sewing works are ended and is displayed SOLUTION: A parameter setting means sets a plurality of parameters in a sewing program and a display means displays the set parameters A program storage means stores a plurality of sewing programs where the whole or a part of the parameters are differed A cycle sewing setting means sets the arrangement order of the sewing programs for performing cycle sewing through the use of the whole or a part of the sewing programs among the stored programs and the display means displays the pattern and the program number of an object to be sewed under sewing at present during the cycle sewing When sewing by the respective sewing programs is completed, the display of the pattern and the program number is changed-over into the display of the pattern and the program number of the succeeding pattern to be sewed
