A high-frequency survey of the southern Galactic plane for pulsars
Simon Johnston,Andrew Lyne,R. N. Manchester,D. A. Kniffen,N. D'Amico,Jeremy Lim,Mike Ashworth +6 more
TL;DR: The results of an HF survey designed to detect young, distant, and short-period pulsars are presented in this paper, where the survey detected a total of 100 pulsars, 46 of which were previously unknown.

Prospects for improving the representation of coastal and shelf seas in global ocean models
Jason Holt,Patrick Hyder,Mike Ashworth,James Harle,Helene T. Hewitt,Hedong Liu,Adrian L. New,Stephen Pickles,A. R. Porter,Ekaterina Popova,J. Icarus Allen,John Siddorn,Richard Wood +12 more
TL;DR: The benefit of improved resolution and process representation using 1∕12° global- and basin-scale northern North Atlantic nucleus for a European model of the ocean (NEMO) simulations; the latter includes tides and a k-e vertical mixing scheme, and the benefits of resolution are particularly apparent in eastern boundary upwelling zones.
Modelling the global coastal ocean.
Jason Holt,James Harle,Roger Proctor,Sylvain Michel,Mike Ashworth,Crispian Batstone,Icarus Allen,Robert Holmes,Timothy J Smyth,Keith Haines,D. A. Bretherton,Gregory C. Smith +11 more
TL;DR: A system for simulating all the coastal regions around the world in a systematic and practical fashion based on automatically generating multiple nested model domains, using the Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory Coastal Ocean Modelling System coupled to the European Regional Seas Ecosystem Model is presented.

Discovery of a binary millisecond pulsar in the globular cluster M4
TL;DR: In this paper, the discovery of an 11-ms pulsar, PSR1620-26, in the closest globular cluster, M4 (NGC6121), was reported.

Advective controls on primary production in the stratified western Irish Sea: An eddy-resolving model study
TL;DR: In this article, the Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory Coastal Ocean Modelling System and the European Regional Seas Ecosystem Model are applied at eddy-resolving (∼1.8 km) scales to the stratified region of the western Irish Sea to investigate the effects of advective transport processes on the ecosystem.
