Papers
Microplastics: A major source of phthalate esters in aquatic environments.
TL;DR: In this paper , twelve plastic products were prepared as microplastics to investigate their release behaviors of PAEs, and six out of 15 PAEs were quantified after 14 days of incubation in water.

Heavy metals in the “plastisphere” of marine microplastics: adsorption mechanisms and composite risk
Yuan Liu,Jens Schlieter,Yuan Liu,Kai Zhang,Shaopeng Xu,Meng Yan,Danyang Tao,Luoluo Chen,Yong Wei,Chenxi Wu,Guijian Liu,Paul K.S. Lam +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors collected seawater, suspended particulate matter (SPM), plankton, and microplastic samples from the waters surrounding Hong Kong, established a method for analyzing 13 heavy metals in the plastisphere, and explored the extrinsic and intrinsic sources of the heavy metals by analyzing natural matrices (seawater, SPM, and plankton) and anthropogenic plastics.

Microplastics in aquatic environments: A comprehensive review of toxicity, removal, and remediation strategies.
A.S. Shafiuddin Ahmed,Md. Masum Billah,Mir Mohammad Ali,Md. Khurshid Alam Bhuiyan,Laodong Guo,Mohammad Mohinuzzaman,Mohammad B. Hossain,Md. Saifur Rahaman,Md. Saiful Islam,Meng Yan,Wenlong Cai +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors reviewed the toxicity of microplastics along with plastic additives in aquatic organisms at various trophic compartments and available remediation methods/strategies for MPs in aquatic environments.

Classification of morphologically similar algae and cyanobacteria using Mueller matrix imaging and convolutional neural networks.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the coupling of Mueller matrix imaging and CNN may be a promising and efficient solution for the automatic classification of morphologically similar algae.

Developmental toxicity and molecular responses of marine medaka (Oryzias melastigma) embryos to ciguatoxin P-CTX-1 exposure.
TL;DR: The understanding of P-CTX-1 mediated toxic mechanisms in the development of early life stages of a fish is advanced, and thus contributed to the toxicity assessment of CTXs in marine ecosystems.
