A method and system to search a variety of types of documents for material related to concepts expressed in a natural language text. The invention includes analyzing the natural language text to determine an underlying concept (420) and identifying one or more categories (430) of searchable material in a knowledge base that are related to the underlying concept. The invention includes intelligently providing documents from the knowledge base (480) in these categories, both automatically and with the assistance of a customer service agent.

A searcher who produces a search accepted by the user is rewarded. The results linked to the query can be stored in a database for later use when a similar query is submitted by another user. The searcher is located by comparing keywords of the query to keywords for which the searcher has registered to do searches. The searcher chosen by the system is one that ranks well in the keywords of the query that match to keywords registered by the searcher, prior successful searching by the searcher, speed of producing search results, and other factors that help to provide a quality search and experience for the user. While the search is being performed the user can be occupied by information provided to the user, such as videos, games, advertisements, etc. The information presented during the search can be based on keywords of the query and designated by the searcher who performs the search. The reward for the searchers can be based on revenue from advertisements.

Techniques for applying user corrections to medical fact extraction may include extracting a first set of one or more medical facts from a first portion of text documenting a patient encounter. A correction to the first set of medical facts may be received from a user. The correction may identify a fact that should be associated with the first portion of the text. A second set of one or more medical facts may be extracted from a second portion of the text based at least in part on the user's correction to the first set of medical facts. Extracting the second set of facts may include extracting one or more facts similar to the identified fact from the second portion of the text.

Documents containing information about product offerings in various natural languages are passed through transitional translation layers which convert the data to a single computer language using a universal character set encompassing the character sets used in all supported natural languages. The documents are stored in their original natural languages and in English with documents segmented into components which components are identified by search terms arranged in a taxonomy tree based on product types. The names of the products in the national languages are added to the English language documents enabling quick keyword searches when the product name or number is known. A bi-directional inverted index is provided for access by the keyword search terms so that keywords with the same meaning in different languages are accessible together when the keyword in one of the languages is queried.
