TL;DR: The prevalence of breastfeeding in France is one of the lowest in Europe: 65% of infants born in France in 2010 were breastfed when leaving the maternity ward, and no beneficial effect of breastfeeding on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality has been shown.

TL;DR: A cautious attitude is to come close to the current recommendations and to advise sufficient consumption of DHA in breastfeeding women, and for bottle-fed children, infant formulas enriched in LC-PUFAs and with moderate levels of LA should be preferred.
