Small-molecule agonists of SHIP1 inhibit the phosphoinositide 3-kinase pathway in hematopoietic cells.
Christopher J. Ong,Andrew Ming-Lum,Matt Nodwell,Ali Ghanipour,Lu Yang,David E. Williams,Joseph Kim,Loutfig Demirjian,Pooran Qasimi,Jens Ruschmann,Li-Ping Cao,Kewei Ma,Stephen W. Chung,Vincent Duronio,Raymond J. Andersen,Gerald Krystal,Alice L.-F. Mui +16 more
TL;DR: These compounds represent the first small-molecule activators of a phosphatase, and are able to activate recombinantSHIP1 enzyme in vitro and stimulate SHIP1 activity in intact macrophage and mast cells, suggesting that shIP1 agonists could be used therapeutically to inhibit the PI3K pathway.

Synthesis of Pelorol and analogues: activators of the Inositol 5-Phosphatase SHIP
Lu Yang,David E. Williams,Alice Mui,Christopher J. Ong,Gerald Krystal,R.W.M. van Soest,Raymond J. Andersen +6 more
TL;DR: A screening program designed to find new antiinflammatory agents has identified the sponge meroterpenoid pelorol as an in vitro activator of the inositol-5-phosphatase SHIP.

Synthesis of SHIP1‐Activating Analogs of the Sponge Meroterpenoid Pelorol
Labros G. Meimetis,Matt Nodwell,Lu Yang,Xiaoxia Wang,Joyce Wu,Curtis Harwig,Grant R. Stenton,Lloyd F Mackenzie,Thomas MacRury,Brian O. Patrick,Andrew Ming-Lum,Christopher J. Ong,Gerald Krystal,Alice L.-F. Mui,Raymond J. Andersen +14 more
TL;DR: Pororol analogs ent-28 or (±)-28 are promising chemical tools for further preclinical in vivo evaluation of the potential of SHIP1 activators as therapeutics for treating hematopoietic diseases involving aberrant activation of PI3K cell signaling.

A review of applications of plasmonic and conventional nanofluids in solar heat collection
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors reviewed the research progress of plasmonic nanofluids in solar collectors and PV/T systems and compared them with conventional nanoparticles for the first time.

Absolute Configuration of the Antiinflamatory Sponge Natural Product Contignasterol
Lu Yang,Raymond J. Andersen +1 more
TL;DR: Chiral auxiliary NMR analysis with C-22 (R/S)-MPA and MTPA esters has been used to demonstrate that the absolute configuration in the side chain of the antiinflammatory sponge metabolite contignasterol (1) is 22R, 24R as discussed by the authors.
