Boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) are an exciting class of nanomaterials due to their unique chemical and physical characteristics. In recent decades, BNNTs have gained huge attention in research and development for various applications, including as nano-fillers for composites, semiconductor devices, hydrogen storage, and as an emerging material in biomedical and tissue engineering applications. However, the toxicity of BNNTs is not clear, and the biocompatibility is not proven yet. In this review, the role of BNNTs in biocompatibility studies is assessed in terms of their characteristics: cell viability, proliferation, therapeutic outcomes, and genotoxicity, which are vital elements for their prospective use in biomedical applications. A systematic review was conducted utilising the databases Scopus and Web of Science (WOS) (2008–2022). Additional findings were discovered manually by snowballing the reference lists of appropriate reviews. Only English-language articles were included. Finally, the significant analysis and discussion of the chosen articles are presented.

In Vitro and In Vivo Cytotoxicity of Boron Nitride Nanotubes: A Systematic Review

The invention belongs to the technical field of a preparation method of spinning raw materials of high-performance pitch-based carbon fibers, and particularly relates to a preparation method of soluble mesophase pitch, which mainly solves the problems of the existing mesophase pitch preparation method that the process is complicated, requirements on the equipment are high, the cost is high, the industrialization process is difficult and the like. The invention adopts the technical scheme that the preparation method of the soluble mesophase pitch comprises the following steps of (1) thermally treating raw material pitch or ethylene bottom oil with a low softening point in an inert atmosphere, then distilling the material in a short distance or flashing the material, removing light ends, and collecting heavy fraction, i.e. heavy end pitch; (2) preparing the heavy enbd pitch into mesophase pitch; and (3) cooling the mesophase pitch to 320DEG C to 400DEG C, removing internal light ends, and collecting the heavy fraction, i.e. the mesophase pitch. The preparation method has the advantages of simplicity in process, moderate in reaction condition, low equipment requirement, low cost and adaptability to industrialized production.

Preparation method of soluble mesophase pitch

The invention discloses a method for preparing high-strength foam carbon by adopting modified asphalt. The method comprises the following steps: modifying coal pitch; preparing mesophase pitch from modified asphalt, foaming the mesophase pitch and carbonizing. According to the method disclosed by the invention, the coal pitch is modified by virtue of boric acid and cinnamic aldehyde, and the properties of the coal pitch such as softening point, carbon yield, toluene insoluble content, quinoline insoluble content and the like are regulated, so that the property and the structure of the mesophase pitch are effectively regulated; the high-strength foam carbon can be obtained by regulating the foam structure. Moreover, the method for preparing the foam carbon in the invention has the characteristics of being short in production cycle, simple in process and low in cost.

The invention belongs to the technical field of foam carbon preparation, and particularly relates to foam carbon and a preparation method thereof. According to the invention, a lignite heat-soluble catalytic heavy component is used as the raw material, so that the prepared foam carbon does not crack easily, the size of pores is uniform, compression strength is relatively high, and mechanical property and thermal insulation property are good. Additives are not needed to be added, and through the control of the pressure release rate, the yield of the foam carbon and uniformity of large size of the pores can be improved, probability of defects such as cracks and the like of the foam carbon can be reduced, the foam carbon with uniform pores and higher mechanical property can be obtained, and the problems that the size of the foam carbon pores is not uniform, the foam carbon generates micro-cracks easily and thus the mechanical property of the foam carbon is reduced due to rapid pressure relief is avoided. In addition, the problem that the temperature of the system is quickly increased by tens of degrees Celsius due to rapid pressure relief and then the foam carbon generates more defects can be solved.

Foam carbon and preparation method thereof

The invention relates to a method for preparing high-intensity coal tar pitch carbon foam material including (1) pyrolyzing the coal tar pitch to prepare pitch with intermediate phase, and adding in toluene solution for extracting and drying after being crashed, (2) adding the dried pitch with intermediate phase to a high-pressure autoclave, increasing the temperature to reach above the softening point of the pitch via pumping vacuum and charging inactive gas, keeping 120-240 minutes under the temperature of 350-500 DEG C and the pressure of 6-80kg/cm 2, then releasing the pressure foams, cooling to the room temperature, then obtaining the pitch foam material, (3) carbonizing the pitch foam material under the protection of nitrogen with 1300-1600 DEG C to obtain pitch carbon foam material. The pitch carbon foam material obtained by using the method of the invention has the advantages of high-intensity, is capable of being used in relative fields of high load and high charge and the like, and is suitable to high commercial process.

Method for preparing high-strength coal tar asphalt carbon foam material

A graphitic foam with high strength and high thermal conductivity was prepared through the incorporation of tungsten particle into mesophase pitch precursor. Results show that tungsten acts as catalysts to accelerate the graphitization of carbon, promote more perfect and larger crystallites and enhance the conductive and mechanical properties. Test results reveal that tungsten doped graphitic foam (TDGF) has excellent compressive strength and high thermal conductivity, with highest values reaching 29.6 MPa and 117.8 Wm -1 K -1 for a tungsten concentration of 12 wt% in the precursor materials. More compact struts and cell walls stacked by more uniform pores were observed by scanning electron microscope in graphitic foam. Correlation between the content of dopant and the properties and microstructure of TDGF was discussed.
