Silymarin attenuates cigarette smoke extract-induced inflammation via simultaneous inhibition of autophagy and ERK/p38 MAPK pathway in human bronchial epithelial cells.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that CSE-induced autophagy in bronchial epithelia, in synergism with ERK MAPK pathway, may initiate and exaggerate airway inflammation and silymarin could attenuate inflammatory responses through intervening in the crosstalk between autophagic and ERKMAPK pathway and might be an ideal agent treating inflammatory pulmonary diseases.
Mitochondrial peptides cause proinflammatory responses in the alveolar epithelium via FPR-1, MAPKs, and AKT: a potential mechanism involved in acute lung injury.
TL;DR: Data indicate an important role of the alveolar epithelium in initiating immune responses to MTDs released during ALI, and the potential mechanism may involve increase of IL-8 production in MTD-activated AECII through FPR-1 and its downstream MAPKs, AKT, and NF-κB pathways.
MicroRNA-26a modulates transforming growth factor beta-1-induced proliferation in human fetal lung fibroblasts.
TL;DR: An essential role of miR-26a is indicated in the anti-fibrotic mechanism in TGF-beta1-induced proliferation in human lung fibroblasts, by directly targeting Cyclin D2, regulating T GF-beta R I as well as G1/S phase transition, and the therapeutic potential ofmiR- 26a in ameliorating lung fibrosis is suggested.

Astrocyte secretes IL-6 to modulate PSD-95 palmitoylation in basolateral amygdala and depression-like behaviors induced by peripheral nerve injury
Lian Liu,Luqi Dai,Dan Xu,Yinchang Wang,Lin Bai,Xiaoting Chen,Mengzhou Li,Shuai-peng Yang,Ying Tang +8 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors found that peripheral spared nerve injury (SNI) induced astrocyte activation to release IL-6 in basolateral amygdala (BLA), which promoted PSD-95 palmitoylation and enhanced synaptic trafficking of GluR1 and NR2B, and subsequently mediated the depression-like behaviors induced by nerve injury.

Mitoquinone ameliorates cigarette smoke-induced airway inflammation and mucus hypersecretion in mice.
TL;DR: Pretreatment with MitoQ significantly attenuated CS-induced thickening of the airway epithelium, peribronchial inflammatory cell infiltration, goblet cell hyperplasia and Muc5ac staining, and oxidative stress induced by CS.
