Preliminary Assessment of the Safety and Immunogenicity of a New CTXΦ-Negative, Hemagglutinin/Protease-Defective El Tor Strain as a Cholera Vaccine Candidate
Jorge A. Benitez,Luis F. García,Anisia Silva,Hilda García,Rafael Fando,Bárbara Cedré,Antonio Serrano Pérez,Javier Campos,B L Rodriguez,José Luis Monereo Pérez,Tania Valmaseda,Oliver Pérez,Alberto M. Borobia Pérez,Margarita Ramírez,Talena Ledón,Manuel Díaz Jidy,Miriam Lastre,Laura Bravo,G Sierra +18 more
TL;DR: The strain strongly colonized the human small bowel, as evidenced by its isolation from the stools of 37 of 42 volunteers, and elicited significant serum vibriocidal antibody and anti-Ogawa immunoglobulin A antibody secreting cell responses.

DNA fingerprinting of Vibrio cholerae and Aeromonas species by pulsed-field minigel electrophoresis.
Lilia López-Cánovas,Laura Bravo,J. A. Herrera,Ana María Riverón,Elisa Javer,Axel Sanchez,Rafael Fando,Maria D. Noa,Anabel Fernández +8 more
TL;DR: DNA molecules of Vibrio cholerae and Aeromonas species were prepared by incubating immobilized cells for 4 and 2 h, respectively, with a nonenzymatic solution that contains chemical reagents only (NDSUPlus), and rendered DNA molecules suitable for fingerprinting by mini‐CHEF electrophoresis.
