TL;DR: Surgical intervention as described here has not changed the overall remission rate, but it may be helpful in directing further therapy in light of the finding of residual disease in so many patients thought to be complete responders.

Use of combination adriamycin (NSC-123127) and DTIC (NSC-45388) in children with advanced stage IV neuroblastoma.
TL;DR: Adriamycin and DTIC were used in combination because of their reported effectiveness in neuroblastoma when administered as single agents and because of the poor survival rate of patients with this malignancy in its disseminated stage.

Phase II study of the failure of vincristine and bleomycin for previously treated children with metastatic neuroblastoma: a report from the Childrens Cancer Study Group.
TL;DR: Twenty-two patients with previously treated but progressive stage IV neuroblastoma received combination therapy with vincristine followed in 6 hours by bleomycin, with no responses seen in the 19 patients who received four or more doses of theBleomycin-vincristines combination.
