Demands of surgical teams in robotic-assisted surgery: An assessment of intraoperative workload within different surgical specialties.
TL;DR: SURG-TLX surveys with six domains of workload were administered to surgical staff at three sites as mentioned in this paper , and aggregate scores were determined per participant for each domain on a 20-point Likert scale, and staff reported significantly higher workload during urology and gynecology procedures and experienced significant differences in domain workload by role and specialty.

Identifying Workflow Disruptions in Robotic-Assisted Bariatric Surgery: Elucidating Challenges Experienced by Surgical Teams
Jennifer Zamudio,Falisha Kanji,Connor Lusk,Daniel Shouhed,Barry R. Sanchez,Kenneth R Catchpole,Jennifer Anger,Tara N. Cohen +7 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the impact of robotic bariatric surgery on the surgical work system via the study of flow disruptions (FDs), or deviations from the natural workflow progression, and classified FDs into nine work system categories.
Associations of flow disruptions with patient, staff, and process outcomes: a prospective observational study of robotic-assisted radical prostatectomies.
Amelie Koch,Caroline Quartucci,Alexander Buchner,Boris Schlenker,Armin J. Becker,Kenneth R Catchpole,Matthias Weigl +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors explore the associations of intraoperative flow disruptions (FDs) with patient outcomes, staff workload, and surgery duration and find that FDs were not related to inferior patient outcomes.
Abstraction networks: adapting abstraction hierarchies to map important relationships for system design
TL;DR: Abstraction hierarchies are essential to a work domain analysis (WDA), the “most important and unique” phase of cognitive work analysis (CWA) as discussed by the authors , but they are not without limitations.

Amplifiers and Dampeners of Patient Safety Risk in the Operating Room: Interim Analysis of Surgical Video Recorded with the Operating Room Black Box
TL;DR: In this article , the authors conducted an exploratory observational study using audiovisual data captured by the Operating Room Black Box to characterize the relationships between associated WSFs, and identified the most common risk amplifiers contributing to the occurrence of intraoperative adverse events (iAEs).
