One-pot synthesis of hyperbranched polyethoxysiloxanes
Xiaomin Zhu,Manfred Jaumann,Karin Peter,Martin Möller,Claudiu Melian,Alina Adams-Buda,Dan E. Demco,Bernhard Blümich +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a one-pot synthetic route based on a condensation reaction of tetraethoxysilane with acetic anhydride in the presence of an organotitanium catalyst was proposed.

Preparation of polypropylene/silica composites by in-situ sol–gel processing using hyperbranched polyethoxysiloxane
TL;DR: In this paper, an industrial compatible in-situ sol-gel process for the preparation of polymer/silica nanocomposites has been developed based on a volatile-free silica liquid precursor polymer, hyperbranched polyethoxysiloxane (PEOS).

Investigation on the Flame Retardant Properties and Fracture Toughness of DOPO and Nano-SiO2 Modified Epoxy Novolac Resin and Evaluation of Its Combinational Effects
TL;DR: The flame-retardant and mechanical properties of the additives are investigated separately, showing a dense and stable char layer for a certain DOPO silica mixture which restrains the combustible gases from the burning zone in the cone calorimeter test and influences the fire behavior of the epoxy resin.

Crosslinkable liquid-crystalline main-chain polymers
Karin Peter,Manfred Rätzsch +1 more
TL;DR: Crosslinkable liquid-crystalline polymers [COPh(R')OCORCOOPh (R')CO 2 (CH 2 ) 6 OCOCH=CHCO 2 6 ] n (R'=H, OMe; R=Ph,C 6 H 10 ) are prepared by high temperature polycondensation in solution as discussed by the authors.

Morphology of Injection-Molded Isotactic Polypropylene/Silica Composites Prepared via in-Situ Sol−Gel Technology
Xiaomin Zhu,Claudiu Melian,Qizheng Dou,Karin Peter,Dan E. Demco,Martin Möller,Denis V. Anokhin,Jean-Marc Le Meins,Dimitri A. Ivanov +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the semicrystalline morphology of injection-molded isotactic polypropylene (iPP)/silica composites prepared via in situ sol−gel technology using hyperbranched polyethoxysiloxane as a silica precursor was analyzed with a combination of small and wide-angle X-ray scattering and 1H solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
