Profiling genome-wide chromatin methylation with engineered posttranslation apparatus within living cells.
Rui Wang,Kabirul Islam,Ying Liu,Weihong Zheng,Haiping Tang,Nathalie Lailler,Gil Blum,Haiteng Deng,Minkui Luo +8 more
TL;DR: Given critical roles of the chromatin-modifying enzymes in epigenetics and structural similarity among many PMTs, it is envisioned that the CliEn-seq technology is generally applicable in deciphering chromatin methylation events of individual PMTs in diverse biological settings.
Expanding Cofactor Repertoire of Protein Lysine Methyltransferase for Substrate Labeling
TL;DR: This work has demonstrated success in developing S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) analogues, particularly (E)-hex-2-en-5-ynyl SAM (Hey-SAM), as cofactors for engineered G9a, and is expected to further serve as a starting point to evolve other PKMTs to utilize a similar set of cofactor.

Se-Adenosyl-l-selenomethionine Cofactor Analogue as a Reporter of Protein Methylation
TL;DR: ProSeAM is reported as a SAM surrogate, ProSeAM (propargylic Se-adenosyl-l-selenomethionine), as a reporter of methyltransferases, and its utility to profile substrates of endogenous methyl transferases in diverse cellular contexts is demonstrated.

In Situ Cryocrystallization of Diphenyl Ether: C−H···π Mediated Polymorphic Forms
TL;DR: Polymorphism in diphenyl ether has been identified during in situ crystallization via single-crystal X-ray diffraction via single'-H...pi interactions.

Enantioselective total synthesis of epoxyquinone natural products (−)-phyllostine, (+)-epoxydon, (+)-epiepoxydon and (−)-panepophenanthrin: access to versatile chiral building blocks through enzymatic kinetic resolution
Goverdhan Mehta,Kabirul Islam +1 more
TL;DR: A new enzyme mediated protocol to access versatile chiral building blocks for the synthesis of epoxyquinone natural products is delineated in this paper, where total syntheses of (−)-phyllostine, (+)-epoxydon, (−)-epiepoxydon and (−)-panepophenanthrin have been accomplished to demonstrate the efficacy of this approach.
