A principal component analysis or an independent component analysis is conducted on the living body signals, e.g., local cerebral blood amount change signals obtained by the living body optical measurement to extract and display multiple component signals thereof. Signals other than the component signals containing noise are selected from these component signals automatically or manually, and the local cerebral blood amount change signals are reconstructed by using selected signals. The reconstructed signals is displayed and further subjected to the component analysis or the reconstruction as appropriate, and used for the profiling of information necessary for the diagnosis. Consequently, high-precision target signals can be obtained by completely removing external noise included in the living body signals, particularly the noise which cannot be adequately removed by the moving average and the filtering processings.

Major and independent components of a biosignal obtained by a biological light measurement, e.g. a local brain blood flow variation signal, are analyzed and a plurality of component signals are extracted and displayed. Out of the component signals, signals except the component signals including a noise are automatically or manually selected. Using the selected signals, the local brain blood flow signal is reconstructed. The reconstructed signal is displayed, subjected to the further analysis of the components and reconstruction in accordance with necessity, and used for analysis of information needed for diagnosis. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse photometer which obtains an absorbance ratio by easily removing noise from a noise superimposed observation signal and extracting pulse-wave data. SOLUTION: The signal processing method includes the step of preprocessing measured pulse-wave data of every wavelength obtained by irradiating biological tissue with light having two different wavelengths and converting transmitted or reflected light of every wavelength to an electrical signal, and the step of splitting and whitening the preprocessed pulse-wave data of the wavelengths into a plurality of alternating current frequency bands, and the pulse-wave signals are separated from noise signals. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely eliminate noise component contained in magnetically detected signals. SOLUTION: The apparatus resolves magnetically detected original signals from a SQUID sensor 1 into dependent component signals for each magnetic source according to ICA process by a magnetic-signal resolving station 4. It is provided with a constitution that judges whether each dependent component is noise component or not based solely on the state of the component at a noise-component eliminating station 5, and restores magnetically detected signals from remaining dependent non-noise components after removal of what has been judged as a noise component at a magnetic-signal restoring station 6. The signals obtained from the SQUID sensor 1 are sufficient enough to eliminate the noise component contained in magnetically detected signals and to permit separate analysis of each component without need of providing a proper magnetic sensor for noise detection.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal separation device or the like, capable of improving accuracy and making convergence as fast as possible, in a signal separation technology such as independent component analysis. SOLUTION: In the signal separation device 100, an iterative calculation section 102 makes an iteration prediction section 101 perform the independent component analysis of an observation signal matrix X by using an iteration method, and the independent component analysis of a source signal matrix obtained as an result is further performed by using the iteration method. A result output section 103 outputs a product of each mixing ratio matrix obtained in the iteration process, as a mixing ratio matrix A to the observation signal matrix X, and outputs the source signal matrix obtained at an end of iteration as a source signal matrix S to the observation signal matrix X. An iteration control section 104 controls the iterative calculation section 102 so that calculation control is iterated until each mixing ratio matrix and each source signal matrix satisfy the convergence condition. The number of iteration times in the iteration method in the iteration prediction 101 may be a fixed number of times, or iteration may be performed until convergence is completed.
