Dynamic mechanical properties of human brain tissue
TL;DR: The dynamic complex shear modulus of in vitro samples of human brain have been measured and preliminary data on in vivo tests on Rhesus monkeys is presented.

Failure properties of passive human aortic tissue. II—Biaxial tension tests
Dinesh Mohan,John W. Melvin +1 more
TL;DR: Ultimate stress and extension ratio values have been calculated for specimens tested in the longitudinal and transverse directions of the aorta for descending mid-thoracic aortas.

Injury biomechanics research: an essential element in the prevention of trauma.
TL;DR: The central aspects of injury biomechanics research are defined and research approaches described, and research priorities emphasizing functional impairment are proposed.

Age effects on thoracic injury tolerance
TL;DR: It has been determined that the reduction in injury tolerance from the "young" age group to the "elderly" group is approximately 20% under blunt frontal impact loading conditions and is as much as 70% under belt loading conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, two series of impacts to the head in the superior-inferior direction using 19 unembalmed cadavers are reported, with the first series of five tests aimed at generating kinematic and dynamic response to sub-injurious impacts for the purpose of defining the mechanical characteristics of the undamaged head-neck-spine system in the S-I direction.
