Identification of volatile compounds released by roots of an invasive plant, bitou bush ( Chrysanthemoides monilifera spp. rotundata ), and their inhibition of native seedling growth
TL;DR: Evidence is presented to suggest that bitou bush exudes low molecular weight volatile compounds into the soil which inhibit native plant seedling growth and is likely to create space and contribute to the invasion of bitoubush on the eastern Australian coast.

CI Mass spectrometric analysis of physiologically active compounds
John M. L. Mee,Berthold Halpern,John Korth +2 more
- 15 Nov 1977
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for determining an analyte is provided, wherein a sample is prepared in a form useful for chemical inonization mass spectrometry and analyzed by determining the ratio of one or more of the major peaks of the analyte and its analog.

Composition and antituberculosis activity of the volatile oil of Heliotropium indicum Linn. growing in Phitsanulok, Thailand
Theeraphan Machan,Theeraphan Machan,John Korth,Boonsom Liawruangrath,Saisunee Liawruangrath,Stephen G. Pyne +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the aerial parts of H. indicum were isolated by hydrodistillation and analyzed by a combination of gas chromatography (GC-FID) and GC-MS, and the essential oil was obtained in 0.004% yield as a light brown liquid.

Headspace gas analysis as a measure of rancidity in corn chips
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of light and temperature on the formation of propanal, pentanal and hexanal in stored chips was examined and the data correlated with the results of sensory evaluation.

Rapid and quantitative blood amino acid analysis by chemical ionization mass spectrometry
TL;DR: A quantitative analysis of amino acids in microsamples of dried blood spots by chemical ionization mass spectrometry yields excellent precision and accuracy as demonstrated by the analysis of known amino acid mixtures and of phenylalanine in the blood from newborns.
