The invention provides methods, systems, and devices for installing barriers in openings or gaps in or between structures such as walls, ceilings, and floors. At least one barrier molding bag is positioned in the hole or gap, and a flowable firestop material that is preferably operative to cure or harden, such as a hydratable cementitious slurry, is introduced into the bag to create a barrier in the hole or gap.

The present application is directed toward fire-rated wall construction components and wall systems for use in building construction. Embodiments can include tracks for holding studs which incorporate various geometries capable of receiving fire-retardant material, flat straps for use between tracks and fluted wall components, fire sponges for use in fluted wall components, and tracks with protruding grooves or other structures which prevent unwanted air movement between a wallboard component and the track.

The present invention provides a sleeve configured to be assembled through a wall-breaching hole so as to prevent the passage of flame and smoke therethrough. The sleeve has a barrel with a fixedly secured flange on one end thereof. An intumescent sheet material is adhered to the inner and the outer surface of the barrel. After passing the barrel through the hole in the wall, a second flange is mounted on the second end of the barrel. Each flange is fastened to a respective side of the wall through a series of holes in the flanges. Each flange has a series of circumferential tabs adapted to being bent inwardly and has a ring of intumescent putty within the tabs and a second ring of intumescent putty on its wall-facing surface. When the sleeve is installed and secured to the wall, a utility-carrying conduit is passed through the barrel and the tabs are bent inward to support and closely surround the conduit. In the presence of heat the intumescent material expands to fill any gaps between the sleeve and the conduit and between the sleeve and the wall so as to prevent the passage of smoke or flame.

The invention relates to a firestop assembly (100, 200, 300, 400) for a pipe, comprising first (102, 202, 302, 402) and second (110, 210, 310, 410) intumescent firestop rings. The first intumescent firestop ring overlies the pipe, and extends along the pipe for a first distance, and the second intumescent firestop ring overlies the first intumescent firestop ring and extends along the pipe for a second distance. The first distance is not equal to the second distance, and the firestop assembly so provided is particularly adapted for firestopping a plastic pipe.

A flame-retardant wick holder for a candle is made of a material having a UL-94 vertical burn test rating of at least V-0, including polymers and ceramics. The wick holder supports a wick at the bottom of a candle. The wick holder material causes the flame on the wick to extinguish when it reaches the holder, thereby preventing flashover of the residual candle fuel at the end of the candle useful life. One version of the holder has a cylindrical sleeve fit over a wick clip holding the lower end of the wick. The cylindrical holder is well adapted for use in pillar-type candles.

A fire safety device for closing through-holes in floors and walls and for thus stopping the potential spread of fire and smoke in case of the occurrence of a fire, includes a section of pipe having a weakened wall, a cup-shaped retainer spaced from the outside surface of the pipe section so as to define an annular space therebetween, the annular space in turn being provided with a suitable and pre-measured quantity of intumescent material. The device is pre-fabricated and thus avoids the problems inherent in attempting to manually provide the intumescent material in a collar during construction.
