Superconductivity in diamond
Evgeny A. Ekimov,Vladimir A. Sidorov,Eric D. Bauer,N. N. Melnik,Nicholas Curro,Joe D. Thompson,S. M. Stishov +6 more
TL;DR: Electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, specific heat and field-dependent resistance measurements show that boron-doped diamond is a bulk, type-II superconductor below the superconducting transition temperature Tc ≈ 4 K; superconductivity survives in a magnetic field up to Hc2(0) ≥ 3.5 T.

Organic molecular soft ferromagnetism in a fullerene c60.
Pierre-Marc Allemand,K. C. Khemani,A. Koch,Fred Wudl,Karoly Holczer,Steven Donovan,George Grüner,Joe D. Thompson +7 more
TL;DR: The properties of an organic molecular ferromagnet with a Curie temperature of 16.1 kelvin are described, where the ferromagnetic state shows no remanence, and the temperature dependence of the magnetization below ;Tc does not follow the behavior expected of a conventional ferromaagnet.

Pressure-induced superconductivity in quasi-2D CeRhIn5
H. Hegger,Cedomir Petrovic,E. G. Moshopoulou,M. F. Hundley,J. L. Sarrao,Zachary Fisk,Joe D. Thompson +6 more
TL;DR: CeRhIn5 is a new heavy-electron material that crystallizes in a quasi-2D structure that can be viewed as alternating layers of CeIn3 and RhIn2 stacked sequentially along the tetragonal c axis that induces a first-order-like transition from an unconventional antiferromagnetic state to a superconducting state.
Heavy-fermion superconductivity in CeCoIn5 at 2.3 K
Cedomir Petrovic,P. G. Pagliuso,M. F. Hundley,Roman Movshovich,J. L. Sarrao,Joe D. Thompson,Z. Fisk,Z. Fisk,p. Monthoux +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the observation of heavy-fermion superconductivity in CeCoIn5 at Tc = 2.3 K. When compared to the pressure-induced Tc of its cubic relative CeIn3 (Tc~200 mK), the Tc
A new heavy-fermion superconductor CeIrIn5: A relative of the cuprates?
Cedomir Petrovic,Cedomir Petrovic,Roman Movshovich,Marcelo Jaime,P. G. Pagliuso,M. F. Hundley,J. L. Sarrao,Z. Fisk,Z. Fisk,Joe D. Thompson +9 more
TL;DR: CeIrIn5 is a member of a new family of heavy-fermion compounds and has a Sommerfeld specific heat coefficient of 720 mJ/molK2.
