A game cartridge is provided for use with a portable game machine having a processing system to execute a video game program and player controls operable by a player to generate video game control signals. The game cartridge includes a housing, a game memory for storing a video game program executable by the processing system, and electrical contacts that, in use, electrically connect the game cartridge to the processing system. The game cartridge also includes a vibration source for vibrating the housing and a driving circuit responsive to instructions from the processing system for controlling the vibration source.

The method of operating the charging device comprises the steps of: establishing a connection between the USB interface and the host system; providing a charging controller in the host system, wherein the charging controller obtains appropriate current from the bus-power through the connection; providing a battery charger electrically connecting the USB interface to electrify a battery; transferring data through the USB interface and electrifying a battery by the battery charger; continually adjusting the current of the bus-power to meet a maximum load current of the USB by the charging controller; showing the current of the bus-power and the rate of progress of the battery charger by an indicator in the host system; and determining whether the battery is fully charged or not, either terminating the charge as the battery is fully charged and decreasing the current to meet a minimum load current of the USB or repeating the steps of adjusting the current of the bus-power.

A system and method for determining power supply requirements for a plurality of servers in an information network that includes a system management bus coupled to provide information on power being utilized by the servers during operation. The information from the system management bus is provided to program instructions that provide power usage values indicative of the power being utilized by the servers, determine the maximum value of the power usage values, and determine power supply requirements based on the maximum power usage. The power supply requirements include operating power and/or redundant power requirements. A warning signal is generated if adequate power is not available to the servers.

Systems and methods for indicating the status of a battery in a portable computing device are disclosed. The methods include retrieving battery status data from a basic input-output system (BIOS) on the computing device, and comparing the retrieved battery status data to a predefined battery status threshold stored on the computing device. Based on the comparison of the battery status data to the predefined battery status threshold, a battery status indicator may be provided to an applications program on the computing device. The battery status data is reflective of a characteristic of the battery, such as battery capacity. A system according to the present invention includes a computer-readable medium having stored thereon computer-executable instructions for performing a method according to the present invention.

The invention provides a system and battery including a state-of-charge indicator (SOCI) to monitor and display the amount of charge within the battery. The SOCI is capable of operating in a hibernate mode, an active mode, and/or a sleep mode. The battery may be manufactured, shipped and/or stored with the SOCI operating in a power-saving hibernate mode. The SOCI may exit the hibernate mode and begin operating in active mode if a physical key connected to the battery is removed. In addition, the SOCI may operate in a sleep mode while the battery is not being used to conserve power. Furthermore, the invention provides a method of making a battery including a SOCI to monitor and display the state of charge of the battery.
