The invention concerns a method for destroying and/or inerting waste, in particular industrial, biological, agri-food waste, which consists in: using a reactor equipped with at least heating means comprising at least an immersed burner, supplying said reactor with materials capable of being at least partly vitrified, heating with said heating means said materials so as to constitute and maintain in the reactor a phase at least partly liquid/foamy at not less than 800 °C; then introducing the waste into said phase so that their organic constituents are decomposed therein by combustion and/or their mineral constituents melted or coated in said phase; finally drawing out from the reactor said phase filled with melted/coated waste and/or combustion products of said waste.

A raw material supply unit 20 is arranged to supply the raw material 12 to the circulating medium 5 between the sealer 18 and the freeboard 11.

SOLUTION: In the method for treating sludge, sludge stored in a sludge pit 11 is fed to a dryer 13, after being dried in the dryer 13, at least some of the dried sludge is charged to a riser 2 of a circulating fluidized bed furnace 1, while the dried sludge and a fluidizing medium are mixed and agitated by combustion air introduced to the riser the mixture is treated by combustion, the combustion exhaust gas accompanying the fluidizing medium is discharged from the upper part of the riser and the fluidizing medium separated from the combustion exhaust gas by a cyclone 3 is subjected to reflux to the riser 2, the dried exhaust gas discharged from the dryer 13 is introduced to the sludge pit 11 and a malodor gas containing the dried exhaust gas in the sludge pit 11 is introduced to the riser 2 as combustion air to be deodorized by combustion. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circulating fluidized bed furnace which is controlled simply and enables execution of combustion of high efficiency for reducing harmful gas in consideration of problems in terms of the cost, without impairing a combustion rate. SOLUTION: The circulating fluidized bed furnace is equipped with a primary air supply means for forming a fluidized bed by primary air supplied from below a riser and a secondary air supply means which is provided in the furnace wall of the riser above the fluidized bed and forms a layer of airflow in a free board by blowing in secondary air. In this furnace, a porous tubular nozzle constituted of a heat-resisting member is inserted replaceably into the central zone of the furnace at least above the secondary air supply means of the free board. By jetting high-speed heated gas into the free board from the porous tubular nozzle, the layer of airflow is agitated and mixed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circulation fluidized-bed furnace which realizes smooth separation of fluidized sand, prevents an inner pipe from being partially worn, simplifies maintenance of an entire apparatus and improves durability of the apparatus. SOLUTION: A fluidized-bed furnace body 50 performs combustion while mixing fluidized sand and combusting materials. The fluidized sand blown out of the body 50 and an exhaust gas (including fly ash or the like) are separated from each other and returned to the body 50 by a line contact type cyclone 1 in which an exhaust cylinder 12 is inserted to the center axis of a top plate 18 at the top of an outer cylinder 10 and a directing port 13 is opened at the side of the cylinder 10. An exposed portion of the cylinder 12 of the cyclone 1 in the outer cylinder is rendered to have an even diameter and a depth h'e of the exposed portion is set so as to be shorter than a height h of the directing port. The ratio of the depth of the outer cylinder to an outer cylinder diameter D is set so as to fall within the range of 0.1 to 0.4. In an outer peripheral surface 12b of the exhaust cylinder, at least the portion exposed inside the outer cylinder is covered with a refractory castable material 12B supported by caster support metal 12A which is arranged in mesh.

The object of this invention is to provide an ash-melting furnace which can respond to fluctuations in the load and which will be capable of highly efficient and stable operation. In an ash-melting furnace which heats and melts the primary ash and the fly ash obtained by combustion together, this invention is characterized by supplying the primary ash (ash containing rough particles) from upper end of the furnace to form an upper layer of a two-tiered layer of ash, supplying the fly ash (ash containing minute particles) from an upper end of the furnace to form a lower layer of the two-tiered layer of ash, moving the two-tiered layer together towards the far end of the furnace, and heating and melting the two-tiered layer by a burner to form molten slugs during the moving step. When the burner is an oxygen-enriched burner, this configuration makes it possible to control the volume of oxygen to be added to the burner air (including changing the density of the oxygen). This invention can control not only the volume of fuel but also the density of the oxygen-enriched air and the volume of the ash to be supplied in response to the state of flow of the molten ash melted by the oxygen-enriched burner.
