A metered dose inhaler comprises a piston (3) which is mounted in a cavity (2) within a body (1), and is urged by a pre-loaded spring (6) into a reduced cross-section pressure chamber (4). The piston (3) may be loaded by means of an actuating rod (31) having a handle (32), and may be latched in a loaded position by a latching means (33). A liquid drug (e.g. in aqueous solution) is contained in a collapsible bag (10). Metered quantities of the drug are successively presented in the pressure chamber (4), and then subjected to a sudden and great increase in pressure, to eject the liquid drug through an atomising head (22), to reduce it to a fine atomised spray of small mean particle size - for example, less than 30 micrometres. Non-return valves (13 and 23) control the flow of liquid through the device. The sudden pressure pulse is caused by releasing the spring loaded piston (3), upon depressing an actuating button (35) connected to the latching means (33).

An improvement in certain types of fluid containers is disclosed. The improvement is particularly directed to a certain type of squeezable fluid container that is made of a flexible plastic material. Such a fluid container defines a longitudinal axis and a cavity for containing a dispensable fluid. The fluid container has flexible side walls, a sealed bottom, a pair of spaced-apart sealed deformable side-edge margins, and a sealed deformable upper-edge margin which is unitary with an upper-edge portion of each of the side-edge margins and which defines a fluid-discharge passageway that communicates with the fluid cavity. The improvement comprises an indent, defined by at least one of the side-edge margins, for dividing the fluid cavity into two fluid chambers along the longitudinal axis. The two chambers are in fluid communication with each other. One of the two fluid chambers is located adjacent to, and is in fluid communicaton with, the fluid passageway. The transverse cross-sectional area of the one fluid chamber, which is in fluid communication with the fluid passageway, is greater than the transverse cross-sectional area of the fluid cavity in the vicinity of the indent. The indent is so located relative to the upper-edge margin that fluid communication between the fluid passageway and the one fluid chamber adjacent thereto is maintained when application of a predetermined fluid-discharging squeezing pressure upon the fluid container sidewalls causes deformation of the container side-edge margin in the vicinity of the indent.

A liquid foam dispenser having a porous foamer element includes a liquid passage and a distributor for distributing the liquid across the outer surface of the foamer element during actuation, an air passage for transmitting pressurized air during actuation through the foamer element pores for generating a foam on or from the outer surface of the foamer element, and a separate vent passage permitting a rapid recovery of the container during depressurization.

A foam dispenser includes a resiliently deformable bottle which has an interior, a neck at one end thereof and an opposed end. The bottle has an at rest position and an under pressure position. A mixing chamber is proximate to the neck and has a soap inlet and an air inlet both upstream of an outlet. The outlet has a porous material thereover. The interior of the bottle is in flow communication with the mixing chamber through the soap inlet. An air tube extends from the mixing chamber into the interior of the bottle and has a distal end proximate to the opposed end of the bottle whereby the mixing chamber is also in flow communication with the interior of the bottle through the air tube. A self sealing pressure actuated valve is for selectively opening and closing the outlet and is responsive to pressure applied to the bottle.

Squeeze operated foam dispenser

An apparatus for dispensing a measured amount of a chemical into a fluid piping system comprising a cap having fluid entrance and exit ports between which is a tubular flow conduit. The tubular flow conduit has a first passageway therein to divert a portion of the fluid passing through the system into a canister attached to the cap. A container is disposed within the canister containing a solid chemical which is partially dissolved by fluid introduced into the container. A portion of the dissolved chemical passes out through a second passageway in the tubular flow conduit located downstream from the first fluid passageway and is reintroduced into the fluid system.

Liquid treatment apparatus

This foam dispensing device intended for use in the inverted position includes a container for holding foamable liquid and having a foam producing unit mounted in the discharge port. The foam producing unit includes a closure having separate air inlet and foam outlet openings. An elongate air return tube having a one-way valve is connected to the air inlet and a foam producing system is provided having an elongate air supply tube.

This dispensing device includes a flexible container for holding fluid material said container having an end opening provided with a closure assembly and having an air bag disposed therewithin. The closure assembly includes a discharge port providing a venturi throat; a first passage system communicating between the air bag and the discharge port and a second passage system communicating between the discharge port and the interior of the container to deliver fluid material into the airstream issuing from the air bag when the container is pressurized.
