How Does Colistin-Induced Nephropathy Develop and Can It Be Treated?
Gulsum Ozkan,Sukru Ulusoy,Asım Örem,Mehmet Alkanat,Sevdegül Mungan,Esin Yulug,Fulya Balaban Yucesan +6 more
TL;DR: Caspase-mediated apoptosis, iNOS, caspase 1, and calpain 1 are involved in the pathogenesis of colistin-associated nephropathy, and GSPE had a renoprotective effect, as shown by the lowered levels of these mediators.

Protective effect of the grape seed proanthocyanidin extract in a rat model of contrast-induced nephropathy.
Gulsum Ozkan,Sukru Ulusoy,Asım Örem,Safak Ersoz,Mehmet Alkanat,Fulya Balaban Yucesan,Kubra Kaynar,Sait Al +7 more
TL;DR: For the first time in the literature, GSPE provided biochemical and histopathological improvement in CIN and this improvement was associated with the decrease in oxidative damage and apoptosis.
The effect of intermittent fasting on blood pressure variability in patients with newly diagnosed hypertension or prehypertension.
Yunus Erdem,Gulsum Ozkan,Sukru Ulusoy,Mustafa Arici,Ulver Derici,Sule Sengul,Sukru Sindel,Sehsuvar Erturk +7 more
TL;DR: Intermittent fasting produced a significant decrease in BP values in terms of office and ABPM measurements in this study but caused no significant change in central BP and home measurements, and identified an increase in BPV during intermittent fasting, particularly in patients who rose before sunrise.

Anti‐apoptotic and anti‐oxidant effects of grape seed proanthocyanidin extract in preventing cyclosporine A‐induced nephropathy
Sukru Ulusoy,Gulsum Ozkan,Fulya Balaban Yucesan,Safak Ersoz,Asım Örem,Mehmet Alkanat,Esin Yulug,Kubra Kaynar,Sait Al +8 more
TL;DR: GSPE is a molecule with anti‐oxidant and anti‐apoptotic properties that is demonstrated to demonstrate the effects of GSPE in preventing CsA nephropathy.

Antiapoptotic and Antioxidant Effects of GSPE in Preventing Cyclosporine A-Induced Cardiotoxicity
Gulsum Ozkan,Sukru Ulusoy,Mehmet Alkanat,Asım Örem,Buket Akcan,Safak Ersoz,Esin Yulug,Kubra Kaynar,Sait Al +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated for the first time in the literature that GSPE prevents CsA cardiotoxicity and that this effect can be achieved by antiapoptotic and antioxidant activities.
