Akt phosphorylation and gefitinib efficacy in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer.
Federico Cappuzzo,Elisabetta Magrini,Giovanni Luca Ceresoli,Stefania Bartolini,Elisa Rossi,Vienna Ludovini,Vanesa Gregorc,C. Ligorio,Alessandra Cancellieri,Stefania Damiani,Anna Spreafico,Carlo Terenzio Paties,Laura Lombardo,Cesare Calandri,Guido Bellezza,Maurizio Tonato,Lucio Crinò +16 more
TL;DR: Patients with P-Akt-positive tumors who received gefitinib had a better response rate, disease control rate, and time to progression than patients withP-AKT-negative tumors, suggesting that gefithinib may be most effective in patients with basal Akt activation.

Primary mucinous carcinoma of the skin.
TL;DR: Investigation of the cases of two elderly women with mucinous carcinomas arising in the scalp found a diploid DNA content with a low rate of proliferative cells and negativity for p53 and c-erbB-2 proteins in agreement with the low aggressiveness of these neoplasms.

Plasma DNA, microsatellite alterations, and p53 tumor mutations are associated with disease-free survival in radically resected non-small cell lung cancer patients: a study of the perugia multidisciplinary team for thoracic oncology.
Vienna Ludovini,Lorenza Pistola,Vanesa Gregorc,Irene Floriani,Eliana Rulli,Simonetta Piattoni,Luciana Di Carlo,A. Semeraro,S. Darwish,Francesca Romana Tofanetti,L. Stocchi,Zhasmina Mihaylova,Guido Bellezza,Rachele Del Sordo,Giuliano Daddi,Lucio Crinò,Maurizio Tonato +16 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that MA and p53 mutations in tumor DNA have a potential prognostic role for disease recurrence in NSCLC patients, and elevated levels of plasma circulating DNA identify patients with possible systemic disease at diagnosis.

Future options for ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer
Daniela Iacono,Daniela Iacono,Rita Chiari,Giulio Metro,Chiara Bennati,Guido Bellezza,Matteo Cenci,Biagio Ricciuti,Angelo Sidoni,Sara Baglivo,Vincenzo Minotti,Lucio Crinò +11 more
TL;DR: The present review will briefly discuss the current knowledge of ALK-positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer, and touch upon new developments on drugs/combination regimens aimed at inhibiting the AlK-TK, in an attempt to delineate how treatment of ALk-positive disease may change in the next future.

Biological prognostic factors for early stage completely resected non-small cell lung cancer.
Lucio Cagini,Massimo Monacelli,Giammario Giustozzi,L. Moggi,Guido Bellezza,Angelo Sidoni,Emilio Bucciarelli,S. Darwish,Vienna Ludovini,Lorenza Pistola,Vanesa Gregorc,Maurizio Tonato +11 more
TL;DR: This study investigated the frequency of expression and the clinicopathologic and prognostic significance of a series of biological markers in stage I and II resected non–small cell lung cancer.
