Systems and/or methods for use in connection with digital downloading jukeboxes are provided. Such systems and/or methods may be used to provide enhanced communications capabilities, e.g., to registered users of jukeboxes. In certain exemplary embodiments, users may become registered users directly at a jukebox. Registered users also may, in certain exemplary embodiments, receive coupons for free plays, import playlists from hardware devices and/or software applications, receive special pricing when playing certain instances of media, play playlists in whole or in part, create and/or manage playlists directly at a jukebox, establish and manage connections with other registered users, etc. Still further, in certain exemplary embodiments, one or more channels may be predefined and/or set up for a jukebox.

An image-forming device has a plurality of cylindrical image-carrying members, and an optical scanning unit. The plurality of cylindrical image-carrying members is provided in a main casing for rotating about respective rotational axes. The rotational axes are parallel to one another and juxtaposed in a single direction. The optical scanning unit is provided in the main casing and has a plurality of laser generators, a single rotatable polygon mirror, a plurality of mirrors, and a plurality of lenses. The plurality of laser generators is provided one-to-one relationship to the plurality of image-carrying members to emit respective laser beams. The single rotatable polygon mirror deflects the respective laser beams to scan the respective image-carrying members therewith. The plurality of mirrors is provided one-to-one relationship to the plurality of image-carrying members to guide the respective laser beams along respective optical paths to the respective image-carrying members. The plurality of lenses is provided one-to-one relationship to the plurality of image-carrying members and provided in the respective optical paths and between the respective mirrors and the respective image-carrying members. Distances from the respective mirrors to the respective image-carrying members being equal to one another.

Disclosed is an improved method of making a hard copy in a process where a latent electrostatic image on an image-bearing substrate is developed by applying to the image a dry thermoplastic toner which comprises a binder polymer, and the developed image is transferred to the surface of a receiver by contacting the developed image on the substrate with the surface, then removing the surface from the substrate. The improvement comprises developing the latent electrostatic image with a toner having a particle size less than 8 micrometers, heating the surface before it contacts the developed image to a temperature such that the surface heats the toner particles when it contacts the developed image to a temperature between 10° C. above the Tg of the toner binder and 20° C. below the Tg of the toner binder, where the temperature is sufficient to fuse discrete toner particles that form the image to each other at points of contact between the particles, but insufficient to cause the contacting particles to flow into a single mass, non-electrostatically transferring the developed image to the surface, where the roughness average of the surface is less than the radius of the particles, and heating the developed image after it has been removed from the substrate to a temperature sufficient to fix it.

Thermally assisted transfer of small electrostatographic toner particles

PURPOSE:To obtain a pressure fixable toner undergoing a small effect from the change of fixing speed and especially suitable for high-speed fixing by incorporating polyolefin having a weight average mol.wt./number average mol.wt. ratio equal to or less than a specified value and a narrow mol.wt. distribution. CONSTITUTION:A pressure fixable toner contains in a binder resin 1-100wt% PE or PP wax or these copolymer wax having a ratio of weight average mol.wt., Mw to number average mol.wt., Mn, Mw/Mn<=2.5 and a narrow mol.wt. distribution and, preferably, a Mw of 600-10,000. When needed, a magnetic powder, a colorant a charge controller, etc. are added. As a result, the obtained toner can be fixed by 1/3-1/5 pressure as compared with the conventional ones, and it is less affected by a fixing device, the difference of the medium to be fixed to, and a fixing speed, and it is especially suitable for high-speed fixing, and superior in blocking resistance and storage stability.

Pressure fixable toner

PURPOSE:To adjust the rate of toner delivery, supply the toner always at each constant rate to a sleeve and perform stable developing in a stable steady state by transmitting the rotating force of a non-magnetic sleeve through revolution of a developing permanent magnet by way of gears and controlling the opening and closing of the shutter in the lower part in the hopper. CONSTITUTION:A permanent magnet 4 is rotated in the arrow direction by a driving shaft 3. The magnetic toner 2 is conveyed while rotating clockwise on a non- magnetic sleeve in the direction opposite from the permanent magnet 4. The sleeve 5 which is turnably set by reaction of this conveying begins to rotate in the same direction as the permanent magnet roll. This driven force rotates the gear 8b provided in the hopper 1 above the gear 8a in the arrow direction. The shutter member 9 provided commonly to the gear 8b and revolving shaft 8c moves against the recovering force of the spring 10 to close the toner effluent port in the lower part of the hopper 1. As the toner volume on the sleeve decreases, the driven force decreases and therefore the recevering force of the spring overcomes and causes the shutter member 9 to move to open the lower part of the hopper, whereby the toner is supplied onto the sleeve.

PURPOSE:To obtain friction hcarge effectively, and to obtain an excellent picture, by fixing a charge control agent whose volume resistance and charged quantity are a specific value or above, to the surface layer of a magnetic toner consisting of magnetic powder and binder resin, etc. CONSTITUTION:A charge control agent whose volume resistance and absolute value of charges quantity are 1X10 OMEGA-cm or above, and 10muC/g or above, respectively is fixed to a part or the whole of the surface layer of a magnetic toner consisting of magnetic powder and binder resin. For instance, 50pts.wt. epoxy resin, carbon black and 45pts.wt. magnetic are heated and mixed, and after that, are pulverized, by which particles of <=30mu are obtained. Subsequently, a negative charge type charge control agent (containing metallic dyestuff) which has been pulverized to particles of <=10mu in advance is added by 3wt% to the toner particles, is mixed enough, and afte that, is made to pass through in a spraying state in a hot air current of 180 deg.C, and the charge control agent is made to tightly adhere onto the surface layer of a toner. Subsequently, when its particle size is made 5-20mu by a wind-force classifier, it is possible to obtain a charge type magnetic toner for an electrophotography system copying machine, which has an Se photosensitive body.

PURPOSE:To make possilbe the structure which is low in height and is long in the transverse direction by disposing a hopper for replenishing magnetic toner to the surface of a non-magnetic cylinder in adjacency to the non-magnetic cylinder and having a means of occasionally replenishing the toner to this hopper. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic latent images formed on a photosensitive drum 8 in an exposure part 7 comes to the developing part p. A permanent magnet roll 5, a cylindrical sleeve 3 of non-magnetic material and guide rolls 9 at both end parts of the permanent magnet roll are coaxially held to a shaft 4 and revolve in the arrow direction. The magnetic toner 1 having been put in a toner cassette 11 is opened of its bottom cover 11' and is sent to a hopper 2c, from where it is supplied by a vane wheel 10 to the upper part R of the hopper, in which portion always a fixed amount of toner is being stored. Such construction results in not less amount of the toner to be stored and satisfactory supplying of the toner of poor fluidity, thus enabling the developing machine which is low in the overall height and is long in the transverse direction to be obtained.

PURPOSE:To improve the pressure fixing strength of the object to be fixed by providing a difference of about 05 to 12% to the surface speeds of the upper roll and lower roll which hold the object to be fixed therebetween CONSTITUTION:Pressure rolls 3, 4 are connected by means of gears 5, 6 of the same number of teeth and revolve at the equal number of revolutions but the outside diameters of the pressure rolls 3 and 4 are differed by about 5% and therefore the surface speeds of the rolls differ The backup roll 7 of the pressure roll 3 is twisted about 1 deg in order to even the pressure at the passing of the body to be fixed A spring 8 for applying the pressure in the normal direction of the pressure rolls at their contact faces is provided to the object to be fixed which passes between the pressure roll 3 and pressure roll 4 A slight difference in the surface speeds of the rolls enables the higher pressure fixing strength than that by conventional ones even under the same linear pressure to be obtained

PURPOSE:To obtain a superior image by adding an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer as a plasticizer, metallic complex salt or the like as an electrification controller and the salt of acidic and basic dyes to a toner contg. wax and magnetic powder as principal components so as to provide a specified electric conductivity. CONSTITUTION:A toner contg. wax such as polyethylene wax or amide wax and magnetic powder as principal components, an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer as a plasticizer, metallic complex salt, amine salt, metallic complex salt of org. amine salt or amine salt of phthalocyanine-sulfonic acid as an electrification controller and a dye contg. the salt of acidic and basic dyes is prepared. The dye is added by OMEGA cm electric conductivity in an electric field with 4,000V/cm DC and gives a superior image by reversal development accompanied by pressure fixing especially using ZnO paper.
