Catheter ablation treatment in patients with drug-refractory atrial fibrillation: a prospective, multi-centre, randomized, controlled study (Catheter Ablation For The Cure Of Atrial Fibrillation Study).
Giuseppe Stabile,Emanuele Bertaglia,Gaetano Senatore,Antonio De Simone,Franco Zoppo,Giovanni Donnici,Pietro Turco,Pietro Pascotto,Massimo Fazzari,Dino Franco Vitale +9 more
TL;DR: It is found that ablation therapy combined with antiarrhythmic drug therapy is superior to antiarr hythmia drug therapy alone in preventing atrial arrhythmia recurrences in patients with paroxysmal or persistent AF in whom antiarrhalic drug therapy has already failed.
Early complications of pulmonary vein catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation: A multicenter prospective registry on procedural safety
Emanuele Bertaglia,Franco Zoppo,Claudio Tondo,Andrea Colella,Roberto Mantovan,Gaetano Senatore,Nicola Bottoni,Giovanni Carreras,Leonardo Corò,Pietro Turco,Massimo Mantica,Giuseppe Stabile +11 more
TL;DR: Early complications of pulmonary vein catheter ablation seem to be fewer than in the early years of AF ablation, but still occur in 3.9% of procedures.

Pretreatment with verapamil in patients with persistent or chronic atrial fibrillation who underwent electrical cardioversion
Antonio De Simone,Giuseppe Stabile,Dino Franco Vitale,Pietro Turco,Maurizio Di Stasio,Ferdinando Petrazzuoli,Maurizio Gasparini,Carmine De Matteis,Raffaele Rotunno,Tommaso Di Napoli +9 more
TL;DR: Six days of oral V administration centered on the C day, combined with P, significantly reduce the incidence of early recurrences of AF compared with P alone.

Reduced fluoroscopy exposure during ablation of atrial fibrillation using a novel electroanatomical navigation system: a multicentre experience.
Giuseppe Stabile,Marco Scaglione,Maurizio Del Greco,Roberto De Ponti,Maria Grazia Bongiorni,Franco Zoppo,Ezio Soldati,Raffaella Marazzi,Massimiliano Marini,Fiorenzo Gaita,Assunta Iuliano,Emanuele Bertaglia +11 more
TL;DR: This multicentre observational study demonstrates a significant reduction of fluoroscopy exposure using a new 3D non-fluoroscopic mapping system to guide catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation.

Cryoballoon vs. radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation: a study of outcome and safety based on the ESC-EHRA atrial fibrillation ablation long-term registry and the Swedish catheter ablation registry
David Mortsell,Elena Arbelo,Nikolaos Dagres,Josep Brugada,Cécile Laroche,Serge A. Trines,Helena Malmborg,Niklas Höglund,Luigi Tavazzi,Evgeny Pokushalov,Giuseppe Stabile,Carina Blomström-Lundqvist +11 more
TL;DR: The lower re-ablation rates and shorter procedure times observed with the cryoballoon as compared to RF ablation may have important clinical implications when choosing AF ablation technique despite recognized limitations with registries.
