Plastic (PET) vs bioplastic (PLA) or refillable aluminium bottles - What is the most sustainable choice for drinking water? A life-cycle (LCA) analysis.
Elena Tamburini,Stefania Costa,Daniela Summa,Letizia Battistella,Elisa Anna Fano,Giuseppe Castaldelli +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a life cycle analysis (LCA) of bottles for drinking water was developed on three scenarios: polyethylene terephthalate (PET), as conventional packaging material for outdoor drinking water, polylactic acid (PLA) bottles, as alternative and innovative biodegradable packaging and aluminum bottle, as reusable and almost infinitely refilling packaging.

Land use change effects on ecosystem services of river deltas and coastal wetlands: case study in Volano–Mesola–Goro in Po river delta (Italy)
TL;DR: In this paper, a combination of transition matrices TMs and ecosystem services (ESs) was used to compare the changes observed during two periods (1954-1976 and 1976-2008) described by different environmental protection governance.

Criticism on elasticity-sensitivity coefficient for assessing the robustness and sensitivity of ecosystem services values
TL;DR: In this paper, a simple calculus is provided which shows that the CS values of ESs are always in the range between 0 and 1 leading always to the conclusion that the applied coefficients by the users are robust, and b) are always independent by the % change of an ES coefficient defined by the user.

Mitigation of nitrogen pollution in vegetated ditches fed by nitrate-rich spring waters
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed that vegetated ditches may mitigate significant amounts of nitrate from spring waters, and represent a buffer system to protect downstream water bodies from eutrophication.
