Introduction to the practice of statistics
David S. Moore,George P. McCabe +1 more
- 01 Jan 1989
TL;DR: In this article, the authors study the study of randomness sampling distributions of data and their relationship with data-relationships, and propose a two-way analysis of variance for regression.

Macrophage phenotype and remodeling outcomes in response to biologic scaffolds with and without a cellular component
TL;DR: It is concluded that the presence of cellular material within an ECM scaffold modulates the phenotype of the macrophages participating in the host response following implantation, and that the phenotype appears to be related to tissue remodeling outcome.

Macrophage Phenotype as a Determinant of Biologic Scaffold Remodeling
Stephen F. Badylak,Jolene E. Valentin,Anjani K. Ravindra,George P. McCabe,Ann M. Stewart-Akers +4 more
TL;DR: A rat model was used to determine the macrophage phenotype at the site of implantation of two biologic scaffolds that differed mainly according to their method of processing: the Restore device (SIS) and the CuffPatch device (carbodiimide crosslinked form of porcine-derived SIS).

Introduction to the Practice of Statistics.
Abstract: algebra of Borel sets and its probability measures; and the strong law of large numbers is used, unstated, on page 4. The emphasis is on asymptotic methods, point estimation (200 pages) and testing hypotheses (170 pages). Treating the 570 pages of the book as a population, a sample suggests a very clear presentation of the mathematical results. Whilst there is a good index of notation, the book is ill-served by a poor general index, and the few tables are badly presented. The material that is covered is treated well but modern topics, like general linear models, are not included. The range of topics that it does attempt to cover are well-presented. The blurb is correct when it say the book 'combines maximum clarity with mathematical rigor'.

Adjusting plasma ferritin concentrations to remove the effects of subclinical inflammation in the assessment of iron deficiency: a meta-analysis
David I. Thurnham,Linda D McCabe,Sumanto Haldar,Frank T. Wieringa,Christine A. Northrop-Clewes,George P. McCabe +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors estimate the increase in ferritin in 32 studies of apparently healthy persons by using 2 acute phase proteins (APPs), C-reactive protein (CRP), and alpha(1)-acid glycoprotein (AGP), individually and in combination, and calculate factors to remove the influence of inflammation from ferritins concentrations.
