The main task of bootloader is to copy the kernel image to RAM , and then jump to the entrance of the kernel to run the operating system . It is the first-running code when the system is powered on . U-boot , with its open-source codes , supporting for varieties of embedded operating system kernel , high reliability and stability , has been in the mainstream of bootloader . However , it has not yet provided the original support for the S3C2440 processor , neither does its NAND flash . This paper analyzes two flashes in reference to the corresponding start-up mode , and introduces the U-boot start-up procedures briefly and figures out the major steps of transplanting U-boot to the target platform . U-boot was transplanted successfully .

IP-BTS (Internet Protocol Based Base Transceiver Station) is a small computing hardware module designed for integration into an industry standard tower PC housing which provides a complete GSM Access Point. It is used to optimize cost of transmission line for high density multi-band base stations. This paper describes the detailed procedure to develop system level boot loader software (universal boot loader-u-boot) for IP-BTS which is a customized hardware with PowerPC based processor board running on RTLinux operating system. This paper also discusses the brief presentation of the customized hardware platform at system level and the boot loader software development procedure for embedded telecom application IP-BTS. Designing suitable boot software at system or boot level is a complex and challenging task which is included in development of an embedded system for telecom applications. The boot loader connects application software through customized hardware and Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). It is not only responsible for initialization of the processor board and other module of IP-BTS software also upgrades operating system images and IP-BTS software versions. The early initialization code is always developed in the processor's native assembly language. In this paper we presented detailed procedure to transplant boot loader (u-boot) on Power PC based customized board and tested successfully with results.

This paper describes the method and progress of developing BeagleBoard-xM as wireless server. In this paper we are going to use BeagleBoard-xM, which is a new low-cost lowpower platform based on the Texas Instruments (TI) DM 3730 processor architecture. The DM3730 processor has dual core architecture consisting of ARM and DSP. The whole process involves compilation and configuration of Android Linux kernel, boot loaders (U-boot and X-loader), construction of root file system, development of cross compiler environment and its implementation on to the target board. To make the BeagleBoard-xM as wireless server it should be enabled for Bluetooth USB dongle and development of application program that makes it wireless server for other clients. This server is small pocket sized portable embedded server when connected in network, can be used to serve the clients in various applications. General Terms Kernel compilation using Android Toolchain, Android porting on BeagleBoard-XM.

U-boot Porting and Research for Cortex-A8 Microprocessor

U-boot, as a good Linux boot loader, has great power and fast updating speed, however, it has not yet provided the original support for the S3C2440 processor. This article, through transplanting files that are supported by the S3C2410 processor, makes it support the S3C2440 and goes successfully through tests by Mini2440 development board.

Time interrupts play an important role in the system. When time interrupts occur, system will inspect process running state, providing an opportunity to schedule, which is important for improving system real time performance. For the low system real-time ability of Linux, the paper adopt enhancing time granularity to improve system real time ability by means of one-shot triggering mode. The kernel of one-shot mode time interrupt is that: the system need not have to respond to any change every time, but only make response when having to respond. Experimental results show that the system real-time ability of Linux is improved through enhancing time granularity.
