Scaling Up MIMO: Opportunities and Challenges with Very Large Arrays
Fredrik Rusek,Daniel Persson,Buon Kiong Lau,Erik G. Larsson,Thomas L. Marzetta,Fredrik Tufvesson +5 more
TL;DR: The gains in multiuser systems are even more impressive, because such systems offer the possibility to transmit simultaneously to several users and the flexibility to select what users to schedule for reception at any given point in time.
Scaling up MIMO: Opportunities and Challenges with Very Large Arrays
Fredrik Rusek,Daniel Persson,Buon Kiong Lau,Erik G. Larsson,Thomas L. Marzetta,Ove Edfors,Fredrik Tufvesson +6 more
TL;DR: Very large MIMO as mentioned in this paper is a new research field both in communication theory, propagation, and electronics and represents a paradigm shift in the way of thinking both with regards to theory, systems and implementation.
Beyond Massive MIMO: The Potential of Data Transmission With Large Intelligent Surfaces
Sha Hu,Fredrik Rusek,Ove Edfors +2 more
TL;DR: The potential of data transmission in a system with a massive number of radiating and sensing elements, thought of as a contiguous surface of electromagnetically active material, is considered as a large intelligent surface (LIS), which is a newly proposed concept and conceptually goes beyond contemporary massive MIMO technology.
Massive MIMO Performance Evaluation Based on Measured Propagation Data
TL;DR: The investigation shows that the measured channels, for both array types, allow us to achieve performance close to that in i.i.d. Rayleigh channels, and concludes that in real propagation environments the authors have characteristics that can allow for efficient use of massive MIMO.
Faster-Than-Nyquist Signaling
John B. Anderson,Fredrik Rusek,Viktor Öwall +2 more
- 14 Mar 2013
TL;DR: Faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) signaling is surveyed, an extension of ordinary linear modulation in which the usual data bearing pulses are simply sent faster, and consequently are no longer orthogonal.
