Colistin resistance in Salmonella and Escherichia coli isolates from a pig farm in Great Britain
Muna F. Anjum,Nicholas A. Duggett,Manal AbuOun,Luke P. Randall,Javier Nunez-Garcia,Richard J. Ellis,Jon Rogers,R.A. Horton,Camilla Brena,Susanna Williamson,Francesca Martelli,Robert Davies,Christopher Teale +12 more
TL;DR: The in vitro transfer of multiple plasmids carrying colistin and other resistances from the Salmonella isolate underlines the potential for wider dissemination and recombination of resistance through different horizontally transferable elements.

Salmonella serovars isolated from table eggs: An overview
Francesca Martelli,Robert Davies +1 more
TL;DR: How ST is not often isolated from table eggs and that contamination of table eggs with SE and SO is more frequent is shown, showing how SE appears to play a major role in egg contamination.

Widespread diffusion of genotype 3 hepatitis E virus among farming swine in Northern Italy.
Ilaria Di Bartolo,Francesca Martelli,N. Inglese,Manoocher Pourshaban,Andrea Caprioli,Fabio Ostanello,Franco Maria Ruggeri +6 more
TL;DR: The prevalence of swine HEV was investigated in 274 randomly selected pigs from six different swine farms of Northern Italy, testing viral RNA in stools by nested reverse-transcription-polymerase chain reaction and indicating that all strains belonged to genotype 3.

Review of egg-related salmonellosis and reduction strategies in United States, Australia, United Kingdom and New Zealand.
TL;DR: Considering the estimated production of eggs in the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand in 2015, the risk of foodborne illness in general is quite low for humans consuming eggs, but given the number of different emerging Salmonella serovars a regular review ofSalmonella control strategies from farm to fork is required.

Detection of Swine Torque Teno Virus in Italian Pig Herds
Francesca Martelli,Andrea Caprioli,I. Di Bartolo,V. Cibin,G. Pezzotti,Franco Maria Ruggeri,Fabio Ostanello +6 more
TL;DR: No relationship was observed between the prevalence of swine TTV and the implementation of some general hygiene practices and biosecurity procedures within the herds, and the prevalence was significantly higher in finishing herds than in farrow-to-finish herds.
