Depression induced by treatment with interferon-alpha in patients affected by hepatitis C virus
Stefania Bonaccorso,Valentina Marino,Massimo Biondi,Franca Grimaldi,Flora Ippoliti,Michael Maes,Michael Maes +6 more
TL;DR: The results show that prolonged IFNalpha treatment may induce depressive symptoms and major depression in a considerable number of subjects.

Inflammation markers and risk factors for recurrence in 35 patients with a posttraumatic chronic subdural hematoma: a prospective study.
Alessandro Frati,Maurizio Salvati,Fabrizio Mainiero,Flora Ippoliti,Giovanni Rocchi,Antonino Raco,Emanuela Caroli,Giampaolo Cantore,Roberto Delfini +8 more
TL;DR: High levels of inflammatory cytokines were significantly correlated with recurrence and layering CSDH; a prolonged postoperative antiinflammatory medicine given as prophylaxis may help prevent the recurrence of a CSDH.

Immunomodulation during sublingual therapy in allergic children.
Flora Ippoliti,Wladimiro De Santis,Anna Volterrani,Luisa Lenti,Nicoletta Canitano,Sandra Lucarelli,Tullio Frediani +6 more
TL;DR: The results confirm the efficacy and safety of SLIT, and lead us to believe that it could modulate the synthesis of Th2 cytokines, as revealed from the decrease of IL‐13.

Increased T-helper interferon-γ-secreting cells in obese children
Lucia Pacifico,Livia Di Renzo,Caterina Anania,John Osborn,Flora Ippoliti,E. Schiavo,Claudio Chiesa +6 more
TL;DR: In obese children, a shift to Th1-cytokine profile dominated by the production of IFN-g is related to insulin resistance as well as to NASH independently of anthropometric features and other metabolic characteristics.
Altered cytokine and BDNF levels in autism spectrum disorder
Serafino Ricci,Rita Businaro,Flora Ippoliti,V. R. Lo Vasco,Francesco Massoni,Emanuela Onofri,Giulia Maria Troili,Valentino Pontecorvi,Martina Morelli,M. Rapp Ricciardi,Trevor Archer +10 more
TL;DR: The present findings reinforce current notions regarding immunoexcitotoxic mechanisms contributing to the pathophysiology of autistic disorder.
