TL;DR: In this series, severe hypertension with highadded risk or very high added risk was very common and treatment--mostly diuretics and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotsin receptor blockers--required at least two antihypertensive drugs to meet the recommended blood pressure target.

TL;DR: A coronary angiographic assessment of patients receiving treatment for DCM, especially in the presence of cardiovascular risk factors, should help optimise their management and improve prognosis and is likely to be underdiagnosed in sub-Saharan Africa.
