The impact of significant input of fine sediment on benthic fauna at tributary junctions: a case study of the Bermejo–Paraguay River confluence, Argentina
Martín C. M. Blettler,Mario L. Amsler,Inés Ezcurra de Drago,Luis A. Espínola,Eliana G. Eberle,Aldo R. Paira,James L. Best,Daniel R. Parsons,Edmundo E. Drago +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the morphological features, suspended sediment inputs and hydraulic conditions within a large river in association with ecological patterns before and after a tributary confluence, and found that a significantly increased loading of fine sediment at a river confluence has effects on the distribution and potential movement of benthic invertebrates in the lotic environment.

Linking hydro-morphology with invertebrate ecology in diverse morphological units of a large river-floodplain system
Martín C. M. Blettler,Mario L. Amsler,Eliana G. Eberle,Ricardo Nicolas Szupiany,F. Latosinski,Elie Abrial,Paul J Oberholster,Paul J Oberholster,Luis A. Espínola,Aldo R. Paira,Ailén Melisa Poza,Alberto Rodrigues Capítulo +11 more
TL;DR: Blettler, Martin Cesar Maria, and César CesarMaria as discussed by the authors have published a paper on Limnologia and Limnology at the Instituto Nacional de Limnsologia (INL).

Fine Sediment Input and Benthic Fauna Interactions at the Confluence of Two Large Rivers
Martín C. M. Blettler,Mario L. Amsler,I. Ezcurra de Drago,Edmundo E. Drago,Aldo R. Paira,Luis A. Espínola,Eliana G. Eberle,Ricardo Nicolas Szupiany +7 more
TL;DR: The impact of a great input of fine sediments on the distribution patterns of benthic invertebrates at a river confluence was quantitatively analyzed in this article, where the junction of the subtropical Bermejo River with the large Paraguay River was the selected study area to achieve this aim.

Commercial fisheries in a mega unregulated floodplain river: Assessment of the most favourable hydrological conditions for its preservation.
Ana Pia Rabuffetti,Luis A. Espínola,Elie Abrial,Mario L. Amsler,Martín C. M. Blettler,Maria F. Eurich,Eliana G. Eberle +6 more
TL;DR: It is shown that spring-summer floods of a certain magnitude and durations are crucial for sustaining commercial fisheries and the frequency of these floods was modulated by the decadal climatic fluctuations that have occurred over the past 100 years in the Paraná Basin.

Habitat characteristics, hydrology and anthropogenic pollution as important factors for distribution of biota in the middle Paraná River, Argentina
Martín C. M. Blettler,Paul J Oberholster,Paul J Oberholster,Tebogo Madlala,Tebogo Madlala,Eliana G. Eberle,Mario L. Amsler,Arno R. de Klerk,J C Truter,Mercedes Marchese,F. Latosinski,Ricardo Nicolas Szupiany +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the relationship between contamination loads, hydrological and morphological patterns and the distribution of macroinvertebrates and epipelic diatoms in the middle Parana River system.
