Nanobubbles effect on heavy metal ions adsorption by activated carbon
George Z. Kyzas,George Bomis,Ramonna I. Kosheleva,Eleni K. Efthimiadou,Evangelos P. Favvas,Margaritis Kostoglou,Athanasios C. Mitropoulos +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of nanobubbles (NBs) on the adsorption in water was investigated, and a proposed mechanism exported from the experimental results, in which NBs act as carriers, was proposed based on the already known theory; the inherent property of NBs to accept charged particles onto their interface is considered to assist diffusion and penetration phenomena of lead ions into the activated carbon pores.

Novel copper(II) complex of N-propyl-norfloxacin and 1,10-phenanthroline with enhanced antileukemic and DNA nuclease activities.
Maria E. Katsarou,Eleni K. Efthimiadou,George Psomas,Alexandra Karaliota,Dionisios Vourloumis +4 more
TL;DR: It is found that the proliferation rate and viability of HL-60 cells decreased after treatment with complex 1, leading to cell death through apoptosis in a time-dependent manner, suggesting that 1 may provide a valuable tool in cancer chemotherapy.

Bulk nanobubbles: Production and investigation of their formation/stability mechanism
Elisavet D. Michailidi,George Bomis,Athanasios Varoutoglou,George Z. Kyzas,George Mitrikas,Athanasios C. Mitropoulos,Eleni K. Efthimiadou,Evangelos P. Favvas +7 more
TL;DR: A novel nanobubble generator with low energy demand, operating continuously, is presented and the long-time stability of generated bulk NBs which is up to three months is presented.

Neutral and cationic mononuclear copper(II) complexes with enrofloxacin: structure and biological activity.
Eleni K. Efthimiadou,Yiannis Sanakis,Maria E. Katsarou,Catherine P. Raptopoulou,Alexandra Karaliota,Nikos Katsaros,George Psomas +6 more
TL;DR: The antimicrobial efficiency of the complexes has been tested on three different microorganisms and the available evidence supports that the best inhibition is provided by Cu(erx)2(H2O) (minimum inhibitory concentration=0.125 microg mL(-1)) against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Structure and biological properties of the copper(II) complex with the quinolone antibacterial drug N-propyl-norfloxacin and 2,2'-bipyridine.
Eleni K. Efthimiadou,Hellinida Thomadaki,Yiannis Sanakis,Catherine P. Raptopoulou,Nikos Katsaros,Andreas Scorilas,Alexandra Karaliota,George Psomas +7 more
TL;DR: Complex 1 shows an increased antiproliferative and necrotic effect on both HL-60 and K562 human leukemia cells in comparison to the free pr-norfloxacin and the antimicrobial activity of the complex has been tested on three different microorganisms and the best inhibition has been exhibited against Escherichia coli.
