Tumor necrosis factor induces proliferation of neoplastic B cells from chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
W. Digel,M Stefanic,Wolfgang Schöniger,Christian Buck,An Raghavachar,Norbert Frickhofen,Hermann Heimpel,Franz Porzsolt +7 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that rTNF-alpha, in contrast to its cytotoxic/cytostatic effects, can also induce proliferation of tumor cells.

Receptors for tumor necrosis factor on neoplastic B cells from chronic lymphocytic leukemia are expressed in vitro but not in vivo
W. Digel,Wolfgang Schöniger,M Stefanic,Hans Janssen,Christian Buck,Mathias Schmid,Anand Raghavachar,Franz Porzsolt +7 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that neoplastic B-CLL cells in patients with stable disease do not express TNF receptors in vivo and that an unknown mechanism suppressing TNF receptor expression in vivo may play a role in growth regulation of neoplastics B cells.

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha, but not lymphotoxin, stimulates growth of tumor cells in hairy cell leukemia.
Christian Buck,W. Digel,Wolfgang Schöniger,M Stefanic,Ragnavachar A,Hermann Heimpel,F Porzsolt +6 more
TL;DR: Data show that rTNF-alpha and rLT have different effects on the growth of HCL cells and in addition there is a subgroup of patients who show no response to rLT or rT NF-alpha.

Possible Mechanism of Interferon Action in Hairy Cell Leukemia
F Porzsolt,W. Digel,Christian Buck,Aruna Raghavachar,M Stefanic,Wolfgang Schöniger +5 more
- 01 Jan 1989
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that TNF is produced in B-cell disorders like HCL and that T NF may stimulate the growth of hairy cells (HC), and the increased production of IFN-γ suggests an increased release of cytokines by T cells.
