Inhibitory effects of Physalis angulata on tumor metastasis and angiogenesis
You-Cheng Hseu,Chi-Rei Wu,Hsueh-Wei Chang,K. J. Senthil Kumar,Ming-Kuem Lin,Chih Sheng Chen,Hsin Ju Cho,Chun Yin Huang,Chih Yang Huang,Hong-Zin Lee,Wen Tsong Hsieh,Jing Gung Chung,Hui Min Wang,Hsin-Ling Yang +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the ability of Physalis angulata (PA extracts) to inhibit tumor metastasis and angiogenesis was investigated, and the results strongly support an anti-metastatic and anti-angiogenic activity of PA extracts that may contribute to the development of better chemopreventive agent for cancer and inflammation.

Alpinia pricei rhizome extracts induce apoptosis of human carcinoma KB cells via a mitochondria-dependent apoptotic pathway.
TL;DR: The findings suggest that A. pricei exerts antiproliferative action and growth inhibition on human carcinoma KB cells through a mitochondria-dependent apoptotic pathway and may, therefore, have anticancer properties valuable for application in food and drug products.

Induction of macrophage cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis by humic acid.
Hsin-Ling Yang,Pei Jane Huang,Ssu Ching Chen,Hsin Ju Cho,K. J. Senthil Kumar,Fung Jou Lu,Chih Sheng Chen,Chia Ting Chang,You-Cheng Hseu +8 more
TL;DR: It is observed that prolonged HA exposure induces cell‐cycle arrest and apoptosis in cultured RAW264.7 cells, and this findings yield new insight into the mechanisms by which HA exposure may trigger atherosclerosis through modulation of the macrophage‐mediated immune system.

Flavokawain B inhibits growth of human squamous carcinoma cells: Involvement of apoptosis and cell cycle dysregulation in vitro and in vivo
Elong Lin,Wen-Hsin Lin,Sheng-Yang Wang,Chih Sheng Chen,Jiuun Wang Liao,Hsueh-Wei Chang,Ssu Ching Chen,Kai Yuan Lin,Lai Wang,Hsin-Ling Yang,You-Cheng Hseu +10 more
TL;DR: The induction of cell cycle arrest and apoptosis by flavokawain B may provide a pivotal mechanism for its cancer chemopreventive action.
