The present invention relates to the technical field of server management, and in particular relates to a centralized firmware updating method. According to the centralized firmware updating method of the present invention, without using any third-party software tool, by operating a Web management interface of an SMC, and relying on a relaying function of SMC firmware, simultaneous centralized update of multiple pieces of BMC firmware can be realized, cumbersome and inefficient update of individual decentralized firmware is avoided, and there is no dependence on third-party software tools in the technical scheme for the prior batch update of firmware, thereby improving efficiency of the firmware updating.

Centralized firmware updating method

The present invention, relating to the field of computer software development, provides a method for updating a Delta PSU firmware using RMC. According to the present invention, a firmware is extracted, segmented and arranged using RMC, the firmware is transmitted over an I2C channel and PSU modules, and the transmission result is verified. When the verification of the transmission result is successful, it is verified that the firmware is updated successfully. As compared against the case in the prior art that PSU manufacturer needs to dispatch dedicated technical personnel to update and maintain the firmware, the method according to the present invention greatly reduces the maintenance cost of the server power supply, and therefore the firmware of the server power supply is more simply and conveniently updated.

The method includes the steps that in a Red Hat system, a preset state grabbing script runs so that at least one in-place to-be-refreshed node on a to-be-tested server is determined through an SMC; a preset IP grabbing script runs, and IP addresses of BMCs on all the to-be-refreshed nodes are obtained, and are written into a preset log file; a preset type judging script runs, node types of all the to-be-refreshed nodes are judged, and the node types of all the to-be-refreshed nodes are written into the log file; for all the to-be-refreshed nodes, a preset firmware refreshing script runs, the corresponding IP addresses and the node types are obtained from the log file, and the BMCs on the to-be-refreshed nodes are subjected to firmware refreshing according to the IP addresses and the node types. By means of the scheme, the efficiency that a multi-node server is subjected to BMC firmware refreshing testing can be improved.

According to the method, the upgrading package is distributed to each node by adoption of a distribution mechanism so as to carry out independent upgrading, and signature verification is carried out, so that the reliability of the upgrading packages is ensured; and compared with the prior art, the method has the advantages of decreasing the configuration operations need to be realized by system managers, improving the operation and maintenance efficiency, decreasing the operation and maintenance failure possibilities of the system managers and increasing the product reliability.

The invention provides a multi-firmware synchronous updating and upgrading method for a blade server. According to the multi-firmware synchronous updating and upgrading method for the blade server, all blade monitoring and managing units in the blade server can be synchronously subjected to firmware upgrade. According to the framework design of the blade server, the multi-firmware synchronous updating and upgrading method for the blade server comprises the following steps: firstly, uploading a firmware program to a management module, and verifying the firmware program; then, synchronously uploading the firmware to all blade modules, and verifying the firmware; starting a firmware recovery mechanism to carry out backup protection to the original firmware; starting firmware updating and upgrading action; carrying out dual verification in the updating and upgrading process and after updating and upgrading are finished; and finally, exiting updating and upgrading, and restarting. The method is especially suitable for updating and upgrading the monitoring and managing system firmware of a large-scale blade server cluster, the working efficiency can be improved, and the system can be guaranteed to normally work after the firmware fails to be updated and upgraded.
