In vitro and in vivo trypanocidal activity of H2bdtc-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles
Zumira A. Carneiro,Pedro I. S. Maia,Renata Sesti-Costa,Carla D. Lopes,Tatiana A Pereira,Cristiane M. Milanezi,Marcelo de Assumpção Pereira da Silva,Renata Fonseca Vianna Lopez,João Santana da Silva,Victor M. Deflon +9 more
TL;DR: 5-hydroxy-3-methyl-5-phenyl-pyrazoline-1-(S-benzyl dithiocarbazate) (H2bdtc) as a free compound or encapsulated into solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) is a potent trypanocidal agent against T. cruzi.
Seroprevalence and risk factors for Toxoplasma gondii infection in pigs in southern Piauí
Richard Átila de Sousa,Jezlon da Fonseca Lemos,Leonardo Atta Farias,Carla D. Lopes,Karina Rodrigues dos Santos +4 more
TL;DR: The data from the records demonstrated an association with some factors such as: age, diet, type of management, breed and presence of cats in the farms with a prevalence of T. gondii.
1,2,3-Triazole-based analogue of benznidazole displays remarkable activity against Trypanosoma cruzi.
Peterson de Andrade,Oswaldo Aparecido Galo,Marcelo Rodrigues de Carvalho,Carla D. Lopes,Zumira A. Carneiro,Renata Sesti-Costa,Eduardo Borges de Melo,João Santana da Silva,Ivone Carvalho +8 more
TL;DR: This work shows that the designed strategy is efficiently capable of generating novel benzindazole analogues and reveals one analogue is more active than benznidazole.

Click chemistry oligomerisation of azido-alkyne-functionalised galactose accesses triazole-linked linear oligomers and macrocycles that inhibit Trypanosoma cruzi macrophage invasion.
Vanessa Leiria Campo,Irina M. Ivanova,Ivone Carvalho,Carla D. Lopes,Zumira A. Carneiro,Gerhard Saalbach,Sergio Schenkman,João Santana da Silva,Sergey A. Nepogodiev,Robert A. Field +9 more
TL;DR: The triazole-linked oligomers—pseudo-galactooligomers—were demonstrated to be acceptor substrates for the multi-copy cell surface trans-sialidase of the human parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, and these multivalent TcTS ligands were able to block macrophage invasion by T. cruzi.

Heterobimetallic nickel(II) and palladium(II) complexes derived from S-benzyl-N- (ferrocenyl)methylenedithiocarbazate: Trypanocidal activity and interaction with Trypanosoma cruzi Old Yellow Enzyme (TcOYE)
Zumira A. Carneiro,Jackelinne C. Lima,Carla D. Lopes,Ana P S Gaspari,Sérgio de Albuquerque,Luis R. Dinelli,Laudimir L.W. Veloso-Silva,Marcella O. Paganelli,Silvia H. Libardi,Carolina G. Oliveira,Victor M. Deflon,Ronaldo Junio de Oliveira,Júlio César Borges,Pedro I. S. Maia +13 more
TL;DR: Although HFedtc was not processed by the enzyme, it was able to act as a competitive inhibitor, blocking the hydride transfer from the FMN prosthetic group of the enzyme to the menadione substrate, and showed the greater potential between the two complexes studied.
