A clinical phase I/II trial with the monoclonal antibody cG250 (RENCAREX®) and interferon-alpha-2a in metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients
Michael Siebels,K. Rohrmann,Ralph Oberneder,M. Stahler,N. Haseke,J. Beck,Rainer Hofmann,M. Kindler,P. Kloepfer,C.G. Stief +9 more
TL;DR: Treatment with the antibody WX-G250 in combination with LD-IFNα is safe, well tolerated, led to clinically meaningful disease stabilization and demonstrated clinical benefit in this progressive mRCC patient population.

Cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) isoenzymes in the human detrusor smooth muscle. I. Identification and characterization.
TL;DR: In this paper, the PDE isoenzymes present in the human detrusor smooth muscle were separated by Q-Sepharose anion exchange and calmodulin-agarose affinity chromatography and characterized upon their kinetic characteristics and their sensitivity to allosteric modulators and inhibitors.

Optical coherence tomography for bladder cancer -- ready as a surrogate for optical biopsy? Results of a prospective mono-centre study.
Alexander Karl,Herbert Stepp,E. Willmann,Alexander Buchner,Yasmin Hocaoglu,C.G. Stief,Stefan Tritschler +6 more
TL;DR: As a minimally invasive technique, OCT proved to have extremely high sensitivity for detection of malignant lesions as well as estimation of whether a tumor has invaded beyond the lamina propria, however, specificity of OCT within the bladder was impaired.
Do we need new high-risk criteria for surgically treated renal cancer patients to improve the outcome of future clinical trials in the adjuvant setting? Results of a comprehensive analysis based on the multicenter CORONA database

Stief,Kurt Miller,Sascha Pahernik,Sabine Brookman-May +27 more
TL;DR: Risk assessment according to the model might improve patient selection in clinical trials by defining a high-risk group (28% of all patients) with a 5-year-recurrence rate of almost 40% according to Harrell's c-index.

Dual energy can accurately differentiate uric acid-containing urinary calculi from calcium stones.
TL;DR: DECT with image post-processing reliably discriminates UA-containing calculi from all other stones, but the study offered limitations.
