Xenotransplanted Human Cortical Neurons Reveal Species-Specific Development and Functional Integration into Mouse Visual Circuits.
Daniele Linaro,Daniele Linaro,Daniele Linaro,Ben Vermaercke,Ben Vermaercke,Ryohei Iwata,Ryohei Iwata,Ryohei Iwata,Arjun Ramaswamy,Arjun Ramaswamy,Baptiste Libé-Philippot,Baptiste Libé-Philippot,Baptiste Libé-Philippot,Leila Boubakar,Leila Boubakar,Leila Boubakar,Brittany A. Wierda,Kristofer Davie,Suresh Poovathingal,Pier Andrée Penttila,Angéline Bilheu,Lore De Bruyne,Lore De Bruyne,David Gall,Karl-Klaus Conzelmann,Vincent Bonin,Pierre Vanderhaeghen +27 more
TL;DR: Combined neuronal tracing, electrophysiology, and in vivo structural and functional imaging of the transplanted cells reveal a coordinated developmental roadmap recapitulating key milestones of human cortical neuron development, indicating the neuron-intrinsic retention of juvenile properties as an important component of human brain neoteny.

A myelin-related transcriptomic profile is shared by Pitt-Hopkins syndrome models and human autism spectrum disorder.
BaDoi N. Phan,BaDoi N. Phan,Joseph F. Bohlen,Brittany A. Davis,Zeng You Ye,Huei Ying Chen,Brent Mayfield,Srinidhi Rao Sripathy,Stephanie Cerceo Page,Morganne N. Campbell,Hannah L. Smith,Danisha Gallop,Hyojin Kim,Courtney Thaxton,Jeremy M. Simon,Emily E. Burke,Joo Heon Shin,Joo Heon Shin,Andrew J. Kennedy,J. David Sweatt,Benjamin D. Philpot,Andrew E. Jaffe,Brady J. Maher,Brady J. Maher +23 more
TL;DR: An impaired myelination signature from the brains of mouse models of Pitt–Hopkins syndrome is identified and shared in the postmortem brains of people with autism, implicating disruptions in OL biology as a cellular mechanism in ASD pathology.

Female "dispersal" in hamadryas baboons: transfer among social units in a multilevel society.
Larissa Swedell,Julian Saunders,Amy L. Schreier,Brittany A. Davis,Teklu Tesfaye,Mathew Pines +5 more
TL;DR: It appears that the ancestral baboon pattern of female philopatry and male dispersal has evolved into a system in which neither sex is motivated to disperse, but females are forcibly transferred by males, leading to female-mediated gene flow, and males more rarely disperse to find females.

Dopaminergic and behavioural changes in a loss-of-imprinting model of Cdkn1c.
Grainne McNamara,Brittany A. Davis,Molly Browne,Trevor Humby,Jeffrey W. Dalley,Jing Xia,Rosalind M. John,Anthony Roger Isles +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that increased expression of Cdkn1c in the brain gives rise to neurobiological and behavioural changes indicative of a functionally altered dopaminergic system, highlighting the importance of correct dosage of this imprinted gene in the head.

Behavioural abnormalities in a novel mouse model for Silver Russell Syndrome.
TL;DR: A mouse model of a maternally inherited microduplications spanning the imprinted genes CDKN1C, PHLDA2, SLC22A18 and KCNQ1 exhibits a number of behavioural deficits that may have relevance for SRS and highlight a potentially underreported aspect of this disorder.
