Inhibition of apoptosis during development of colorectal cancer.
Atul Bedi,Pankaj J. Pasricha,Adil J. Akhtar,James Barber,Gauri C. Bedi,Francis M. Giardiello,Barbara A. Zehnbauer,Stanley R. Hamilton,Richard J. Jones +8 more
TL;DR: This data indicates that the transformation of colorectal epithelium to carcinomas was associated with a progressive inhibition of apoptosis, which may contribute to tumor growth, promote neoplastic progression, and confer resistance to cytotoxic anticancer agents.

TL;DR: This research highlights the need to understand more fully the role of Epstein-Barr virus in infectious disease and its role in Hunter-LaSalle syndrome.

Transplantation of umbilical cord blood after myeloablative therapy: analysis of engraftment.
John E. Wagner,Hal E. Broxmeyer,Rebecca L. Byrd,Barbara A. Zehnbauer,B.J. Schmeckpeper,Nandita K. Shah,Constance A. Griffin,Peter D. Emanuel,Kenneth S. Zuckerman,Scott Cooper,Cathy Carow,Wilma B. Bias,George W. Santos +12 more
TL;DR: Results demonstrate that umbilical cord blood contains sufficient numbers of hematopoietic stem cells necessary for the engraftment of leukemia patients treated with myeloablative therapy and that the detection of “spontaneous” CFU-GM and hypersensitivity to GM-CSF after treatment is a marker of residual or recurrent disease in patients with JCML.

Relevance, pathogenesis, and testing algorithm for mismatch repair-defective colorectal carcinomas: a report of the association for molecular pathology.
William K. Funkhouser,Ira M. Lubin,Ira M. Lubin,Federico A. Monzon,Federico A. Monzon,Barbara A. Zehnbauer,James P. Evans,Shuji Ogino,Jan A. Nowak +8 more
TL;DR: It is recommended that new CRCs should be classified into sporadic MMR-proficient, sporadic dMMR, or Lynch d MMR subgroups, and the concurrent use of MSI testing, MMR protein IHC, and BRAF c.1799T>A mutation analysis would detect almost all dMMr CRCs, which would increase detection of inherited and de novo germline mutations to guide family screening.

Fluorescence energy transfer detection as a homogeneous DNA diagnostic method
TL;DR: The successful application of the TDI assay is reported to detect mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator gene, the human leukocyte antigen H (HLA-H) gene, and the receptor tyrosin kinase (RET) protooncogene that are associated with cystic Fibrosis, hemochromatosis, and multiple endocrine neoplasia, type 2, respectively.
