Electron injection in semiconductor drift chambers
TL;DR: In this paper, the first successful results of a simple MOS device for injecting electrons at given sites in silicon drift chambers were reported, allowing on-line calibration of the time of flight of electrons within the detector, making the reconstruction of their position independent of the temperature-dependent mobility of electrons.

Beam test of a large area silicon drift detector
A. Vacchi,P.T. Cox,P. Giacomelli,Andrea Castoldi,S. Chinnici,E. Gatti,Antonio Francesco Longoni,F. Palma,Marco Sampietro,Pavel Rehak,G. Ballocchi,J. Kemmer,Peter Holl +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the results from the tests of the first large area (4 × 4 cm 2 ) planar silicon drift detector prototype in a pion beam are reported, and the measured position resolution in the drift direction is σ = 40± 10 μ m.
Direct photon production in pp and pp interactions at √s = 24.3 GeV

Studer,M. T. Tran,A. Vacchi,G. Valenti,M. Werlen +36 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first measurement of the difference of the p p and pp cross sections was performed at the CERN SPS, where the direct photon cross section in p p collisions was systematically larger than that in pp collisions, which indicates a significant contribution of the q q annihilation term as predicted by theoretical calculations.

A lead/proportional-tube electromagnetic calorimeter for direct photon detection
L. Camilleri,L. Dick,J.B. Jeanneret,G. Von Dardel,S. Baumann,A. Bernasconi,B. Gabioud,F. Gaille,C. Joseph,J. F. Loude,C. Morel,J.L. Pages,J. P. Perroud,D. Ruegger,G. Sozzi,D. Steiner,L. Studer,M. T. TL;DR: The fine-grained lead/proportional-tube electromagnetic calorimeter used in CERN experiment UA6 is described in this paper, which demonstrates linear energy response over a wide dynamic range, position resolution for shower localization reaching 1.7 mm.

TL;DR: In this paper, the first successful results of a simple MOS structure to inject electrons at a given position in Silicon Drift Detectors were reported, which allows on-line calibration of the drift velocity of electrons within the detector.
